On January 18, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the results of the national high school exam for excellent students for the 2024-2025 school year.
Accordingly, this year's exam had a total of 3,803 prize-winning candidates, accounting for 58.68% of the total number of candidates taking the exam. Compared to last year, the number of prize-winning candidates increased by 452.
Hanoi continues to be the leading locality in the country in the number of national excellent student awards with 200 candidates winning First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes, spanning all subjects - an increase of 16 prizes compared to last year.
The detailed number of prizes in each subject of the Hanoi delegation is as follows: Math 18 prizes, Physics 20 prizes, Chemistry 20 prizes, Biology 18, Information Technology 15 prizes, Literature 15 prizes, History 14 prizes, Geography 17 prizes, English 20 prizes, Russian 11 prizes, French 17 prizes, Chinese 7 prizes, Japanese 8 prizes.
Of which, Hanoi has a total of 18 First prizes, spread across the subjects: Math (01 prize), Physics (02 prizes), Chemistry (05 prizes), Biology (05 prizes), Informatics (02 prizes), English (02 prizes), French (01 prize).
Ranked second nationwide is the Ho Chi Minh City delegation with 166 prizes, an increase of 56 prizes compared to 2024. Of which, this unit has 05 candidates winning first prize.
Hai Phong is the third ranked locality with a total of 102 awards. The fourth and fifth ranked units are Hanoi National University (101 awards) and Bac Giang (99 awards) respectively.
In the top 10 localities with the most number of prize-winning candidates, there are also: Hai Duong (97 prizes), Nghe An (96 prizes), Thai Nguyen (90 prizes), Quang Ninh (88 prizes), Vinh Phuc (87 prizes).
According to the current Regulations on selecting excellent students at the national level, the total number of prizes from Encouragement and above must not exceed 60% of the number of contestants; the total number of First, Second, and Third prizes must not exceed 60% of the total number of prizes; the number of First prizes must not exceed 5% of the total number of prizes.
Along with that, according to the plan, in March 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize an exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in regional and international Olympics in 2025, for the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics.
Candidates with the following scores will be called to take the above exam, specifically: Math from 24 points or higher; Physics from 26.75 points or higher; Chemistry from 25.875 points or higher; Biology from 25.5 points or higher and Informatics from 16.34 points or higher.
The Ministry of Education and Training further informed that, according to the exam regulations, within 15 days from the date of announcement of results, candidates have the right to request a review of their exam papers. In addition, the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) will issue certificates to the winning candidates and certificates of participation in the exam to the remaining students. This has been applied from the national exam for excellent students in the 2023-2024 school year.
