The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just guided some contents for organizing the 2026 high school graduation exam. Accordingly, the 2026 high school graduation exam schedule is as follows:
According to the plan, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize for 12th grade students to try registering for the online exam on the Exam Management System from April 17 to the end of April 21.
The 2026 high school graduation exam will take place in 3 sessions (1 Math session, 1 Literature session and 1 optional exam session).
Candidates who are 12th grade students taking the 2026 high school graduation exam will have to take 2 compulsory subjects, Math and Literature, along with 1 test consisting of 2 subjects selected from the remaining subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Industrial-Oriented Technology, Agricultural-Oriented Technology, Informatics, Foreign Languages, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education. Candidates are allowed to choose to take a foreign language subject different from the foreign language learned at the high school.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of Quality Management Department, Ministry of Education and Training, said that the 2026 high school graduation exam questions will still follow the direction of assessing practical competence, closely following the new program, maintaining the differentiation ratio: Thinking level is 40% recognition level, 30% understanding level and 30% application level
The exam questions strengthen the connection and application of knowledge and skills into reality, especially in differentiated contents, in order to accurately assess students' abilities.
Among the 17 high school graduation exam subjects, only the Literature exam is in essay form. The remaining subjects are multiple-choice questions to find the correct answer, correct/wrong answer and short answers. Short answer questions will help differentiate better because candidates find it difficult to guess randomly.
The results of the 2026 high school graduation exam will be announced at 8:00 AM on July 1. The graduation recognition consideration will be completed no later than July 3.
Candidates should note that in 2026, the high school graduation exam will be organized entirely according to the 2018 general education program. Thus, independent candidates who studied the 2006 general education program if participating in the 2026 high school graduation exam must take the new program.
