According to the draft, the entry threshold for teacher training and health-related majors with a practice certificate must have academic results (in all 3 high school levels) ranked Good or higher or a high school graduation score of 8.0 or higher.
For the following majors: Physical Education; Music Pedagogy; Fine Arts Pedagogy; Preschool Education at college level; Nursing; Preventive Medicine; Midwifery; Dental Prosthetics; Medical Testing Technology, Medical Imaging Technology; Rehabilitation Technology, the learning results in all 3 years of high school must be ranked Good or higher or the high school graduation score must be 6.5 or higher.
In addition, the Ministry divides candidates for teacher training and health care into two groups. The academic record requirement only applies to the group that does not consider high school graduation exam scores. For the group that considers graduation exam scores, the Ministry will announce the floor score annually. The draft no longer divides the floor score according to the admission method.
Teacher training and health are two special fields. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of input, for many years, the Ministry of Education and Training has set the floor scores for these two groups of fields and the floor scores are announced around mid-July.
In the past 2 years, the minimum admission score for teacher training and health care majors has remained stable. The entrance threshold for teacher training majors based on high school graduation exam results is 18 - 19 points for a combination of 3 subjects. For preschool education at college level, it is 17 points. This level includes priority points.
11 majors in the health group have a minimum floor score of 19 - 22.5, the highest being Medicine and Dentistry.
The floor score is not too high, but in fact, in previous years, the standard score for the education industry was sky-high. The highest score was up to 29.3 points, at Hanoi Pedagogical University.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training said that the regulation of unifying the threshold to ensure input quality for health and pedagogy majors in the admission regulations is also intended to ensure fairness for candidates, regardless of the admission method.
"In addition, the regulation based on the results of all 3 years is to create a positive impact on the teaching and learning process at high school level," Ms. Thuy explained.
