Candidate T.T. H asked, in 2026, will the subjects of admission according to the combined admission method change compared to 2025?
Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Education and Training responded on the Government Electronic Information Portal as follows:
According to Circular No. 06/2026/TT-BGDĐT dated February 15, 2026 of the Minister of Education and Training, the combined admission method does not change in terms of subjects, but supplements stricter conditions on admission criteria and input thresholds.

First, tighten requirements for admission criteria
Clause 2, Article 6 of the Circular clearly stipulates:
a) The criteria used for evaluation and admission must be based on the requirements for basic knowledge and core competencies that candidates need to have to study the training program;
b) If the admission method does not reflect the requirements in point a of this clause, the applicant must have academic results of at least 02 semesters of grade 12 or have high school graduation exam scores in a subject suitable for the entry requirements of the training program...;
c) Total bonus points including bonus points, bonus consideration points, encouragement points not exceeding 10% of the maximum score of the admission score scale;
d) Each candidate has the opportunity to achieve the maximum score... and ensure that no candidate has an admission score exceeding the score of 30 points...".
This regulation shows that the combined admission method must assess actual learning ability, limiting dependence on bonus points or supporting factors.
Second, adding a "hard" threshold for entry points
Clause 3, Article 6 of the Circular stipulates: "The source of admission to the university training program is candidates with a total score of 03 subjects in the high school graduation exam... reaching at least 15.00 points on a 30-point scale, applicable to candidates taking the graduation exam from 2026".
This is an important new point, establishing a minimum threshold of 15 points for the common recruitment source.
Third, compulsory Math or Literature subjects with clear weightings
For the admission method based on transcripts (usually components in combined admission), Clause 5, Article 6 of the Circular stipulates:
The enrollment method is based on the academic results of compulsory high school subjects in Mathematics or Literature with the weight of calculating the score of Mathematics or Literature at least 1/3...".
Similarly, with the method of using high school graduation exam scores, Clause 6, Article 6 stipulates:
The admission method is based on the results of the high school graduation exam subjects, which must include Mathematics or Literature with a weighting of scores... at least 1/3...".
Based on the above regulations, compared to 2025, the 2026 enrollment regulations have outstanding new points for combined admission as follows:
It is mandatory that the admission criteria must be based on basic knowledge and core competencies;
Applying a minimum threshold of 15 points for recruitment sources;
The requirement for Math or Literature subjects accounts for at least 1/3 of the weight.
Thus, candidates applying for combined admission in 2026 must meet their actual learning ability in core cultural subjects, instead of just relying on certificates or supporting criteria.
