After 6 virtual filtering sessions, candidates only won 1 entrance with the highest wish
The virtual filtering process aims to ensure that each candidate can only be admitted with one wish. This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology continues to be assigned to chair the Northern admission group with 65 participating schools.
A representative of Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that at 5:30 p.m. on August 20, 2025, the unit will organize a Summary and handover of the results of the 2025 university admission to the entire group (65 higher education institutions). Immediately after that, the university will announce the 2025 admission results on the lookup system.
Previously, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced the expected benchmark for 2025. With the high school graduation exam scores, the majors expected to get the highest benchmark scores including Computer Science, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (Advanced program) with over 27.8 points.
The group of majors include Computer Engineering, Global ICT, Digital Space Safety (Advanced Program), Control - Automation Engineering, microelectronics Engineering and nano Technology, Viet Yates Information Technology is expected to have a benchmark score of around 26.5-28.
In contrast, for some majors such as Business Administration (in collaboration with Troy University), Natural Resources and Environment Management, Chinese for Science, Technology and Engineering, the benchmark score can be from only 19.
Sharing about the admission work, Dr. Nguyen Phi Long, Head of Training Department of the Vietnam Women's Academy, emphasized that the virtual filtering process this year is strictly conducted on the system of the Ministry of Education and Training. However, due to many changes such as lower exam scores than last year and a large number of candidates registering, after the second virtual filter session, the standard score is expected to be equivalent or increase slightly depending on the major and admission method after converting the equivalent score.
Candidates applying for admission to many universities increase
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, this year, nearly 850,000 candidates registered for university admission. The total number of registered wishes is about 7.6 million, on average a student registered nearly 9 wishes - much higher than last year.
Representatives of many higher education institutions believe that this year the number of candidates and admission wishes has increased, which is understandable, the reason being that there is no longer early admission.
At the Banking Academy, Dr. Tran Manh Ha - Head of Training Department, Banking Academy - said that in 2025, the number of candidates applying for admission to the Banking Academy increased by 126% compared to 2024, in which one-third of candidates have international certificates.
MSc. Nguyen Quang Trung - Deputy Head of the Communications and Admissions Department, University of Commerce - informed that the number of applications increased by 1.5 times compared to 2024. Of these, more than 30,000 candidates have foreign language certificates.
Or at the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in 2024, the rate of admission according to wishes will be 1/22; by 2025, the rate of admission according to wishes will increase to 1/30, especially in a major with a record of 1/200 candidates competing for a course.
Important notes after getting a benchmark
Based on the number of records and analysis of benchmark data for each year, MSc. Nguyen Quang Trung predicted: "The school's benchmark may be more extensive than previous years".
Mr. Trung noted that candidates, after the schools announce their scores, candidates need to look up the admission list to know which school will be admitted. At the same time, urgently confirm admission to the approved educational institution.
"You need to read the admission notice of the admitted school to prepare for admission procedures. Review your email address, phone number, and contact address. If it is wrong, you should contact the admitted school immediately to avoid missing information. For example, the University of Commerce will announce a link to look up the admission list, send email to candidates to inform them about their admission, and an electronic admission notice will also be sent via email. In addition, we also have announcements and zalo groups to support admission consultation for new students, said Mr. Trung.
Pedagogy and STEM majors take center
According to Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong, in 2025, the number of candidates registering for 1 wish to enter STEM majors will reach 222,454, an increase of 41,881 candidates compared to the previous year.
The computer science and information technology majors have 54,359 candidates registering for wish 1 (the highest priority wish of candidates), an increase of 2,183 candidates compared to the first round in 2024. The artificial intelligence industry also attracted strong attention with 2,754 registered candidates, far exceeding last year.
