According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT), the 10th grade benchmark is expected to be announced on June 30. These days, many students and parents are in a state of anxiety waiting for results, especially in cases where exam scores are close to the benchmark scores of previous years.
Nguyen Minh Anh, a student in Binh Dong ward, achieved 17.5 points after this year's 10th grade entrance exam. The female student said that in recent days she has continuously followed forums and information predicting benchmark scores.
Compared to the benchmark score of the school I registered for last year, it is quite close, so I am very nervous. Every day I go online to see how people predict the benchmark score to refer to," Minh Anh shared.
According to Minh Anh, her biggest wish is to study at a public school near her home. However, she cannot avoid worrying when the average exam scores this year are assessed to have many fluctuations.
With the same mood, Tran Gia Han, a student in Vuon Lai ward, achieved 20 points, 0.5 points higher than the previous year's benchmark score of Marie Curie High School.
My score is not too high but not too low. I see many students getting good results, so I am also worried about the benchmark score increasing. Now I just know to wait for the official announcement," Gia Han said.
Not only students, many parents are also anxious while waiting for the announcement of benchmark scores.
Ms. Le Thi Thanh, whose child participated in this year's 10th grade exam, said that her family regularly updates enrollment information to predict her child's ability to pass.
My child achieved 19.75 points, which is 1 point higher than the benchmark score last year, but the family is still worried when the benchmark score is forecast to increase this year," Ms. Thanh shared.
According to Ms. Thanh, if her child is admitted to a public school, it will not only reduce the burden of costs during the learning process but also be able to study near home.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, after students are admitted to 10th grade specialized classes, 10th grade integrated English classes, direct admission and students admitted to High School for the Gifted confirm enrollment, the Department will summarize data, exclude cases of admission but not enrollment to determine the benchmark score for the general education 10th grade system.
Announcing benchmark scores after completing enrollment confirmation aims to limit the situation of virtual admission, ensuring that enrollment quotas are allocated closely to actual needs.
Every year, Ho Chi Minh City records hundreds of students admitted to specialized and integrated classes but not enrolled.
The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year in Ho Chi Minh City takes place on June 1-2 with more than 151,000 registered candidates. This is the first year the exam has been organized after Ho Chi Minh City expanded its administrative boundaries on the basis of merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
The 10th grade admission score is usually calculated by the total score of three subjects Literature, Mathematics and English along with priority points (if any). Candidates must take all three subjects, not violate exam regulations and have no exam papers with a score of 0.
In the 2026-2027 school year, public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City will enroll about 118,500 students, equivalent to 78% of students taking the exam with a chance of passing.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, after announcing the 10th grade benchmark scores and completing the enrollment confirmation process, based on the actual number of students enrolled at high schools, the Department will consider the enrollment situation to decide on organizing additional enrollment for units that still lack quotas.
Subjects eligible to participate in supplementary admission consideration (if any) are students who have participated in the 10th grade public school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year but have not been admitted to the registered aspirations.
Specific information about supplementary enrollment will be announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training after summarizing the enrollment data of schools.
