Trong Diem Secondary School, formerly located in Hong Hai ward, Ha Long city (old), now belonging to Ha Long ward, Quang Ninh province, is one of the best secondary schools in the province - a place for students with good academic achievements and high entrance exam scores from communes and wards of Ha Long city (old).
However, after no longer having a district-level administrative unit, this school was assigned to Ha Long ward for management. Also from here, the initial 6th grade entrance enrollment plan was confusing, even causing quite heated debate among parents, because this is a school that many families want their children to attend.
After many meetings and discussions, Trong Diem Secondary School has issued a 6th grade enrollment plan for the 2026-2027 school year. Accordingly, the school enrolls students by admission, with a total target of 495 students, equivalent to 11 classes. Admission is based on the academic results of students throughout primary school, shown through transcripts from grades 1 to 5.
Regarding the enrollment area, the school receives students in Ha Long ward and communes and wards of Ha Long City (old). In which, the targets are specifically allocated: 6 classes (270 students) for students in Ha Long ward and 5 classes (225 students) for the remaining areas.
In case candidates have equal admission scores, the school will apply auxiliary criteria such as: number of years of achieving the title of excellent completion; total scores of Math and Vietnamese subjects over the school years. In addition, students who win prizes in exams and competitions organized or jointly organized by the education sector are also prioritized, in order from international, national to provincial levels.
However, at a recent meeting, Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee directed: Trong Diem Secondary School (Ha Long ward) is concerned with investing in facilities, equipment, teaching staff and other necessary conditions to foster students to achieve good results in training and learning for many wards and communes; early detection of students with outstanding talents, creating a source of excellent students, contributing to improving the quality of key education in the province.
In order for Trong Diem Secondary School to continue to promote the achieved results, effectively use investment resources, and contribute to creating breakthroughs in the quality of education and building high-quality human resources of the province, Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee requests not to divide enrollment quotas according to wards and communes, in order to select fairly and substantively students with appropriate abilities.
In case the number of students registered for admission exceeds the assigned target, admission will be carried out based on academic records combined with student competency assessment; and at the same time, maintain the stable admission method that has been effectively implemented in recent years.
Immediately after that, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh province also issued an official dispatch guiding Ha Long Ward People's Committee on some contents regarding enrollment in Trong Diem Secondary School.
In which, admission is carried out in order from high scores to low scores until the quota is met. If there are still many students with equal admission scores at the final quota, additional secondary criteria will be considered in priority order as follows: students with education results reaching the Excellent Completion level in all 5 years of primary school; students with higher aptitude assessment tests; students with higher scores at the end-of-year Vietnamese and Math tests of 5 school years; students with higher end-of-year Vietnamese and Math tests from grades 3 to 5; students who won individual and collective prizes in order: competitions organized by the education sector; competitions organized by the education sector in coordination with units; other competitions, respectively at levels: international, national, provincial...
