Ready for the new school year
The new 2026-2027 school year is about to begin, Ms. Dang Thi Ly (Long Tuyen ward, Can Tho city) is nervous when her son enters 9th grade - considered the "sideline" year deciding the entrance exam to 10th grade high school. At Ngo Quyen Elementary School (Ninh Kieu ward, Can Tho city), Principal Mach Le Xuan - said that the school has stabilized facilities, basically ensuring the necessary conditions for teaching quality. This year, the school expects about 300 students to enter grade 1. Teachers focus on creating comfortable psychology for all students, innovating teaching methods, improving self-learning ability and developing soft skills for students.
For Cai Khe 1 Primary School (Cai Khe ward, Can Tho city), this school year is expected to welcome 410 students. The school has reviewed and fully prepared the conditions for facilities, staff, teachers, and staff and developed a plan to organize teaching and learning, ensuring that all activities take place stably right from the early days of the school year.

Improving the quality of teaching and learning
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vo Hong Lam - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City said that for the 2026 - 2027 school year, the Department coordinates with the People's Committees of communes and wards to implement many key tasks.
Accordingly, continue to mobilize preschool children and general education students to go to class; coordinate with families and schools to equip students with necessary skills, especially children entering grade 1 and students transferring to grade 6 when changing the learning environment, helping them have a comfortable and happy psychology in the early days of going to school.
We also direct educational institutions to ensure food safety, especially for schools that organize semi-boarding meals and canteens; coordinate with local health departments to prevent epidemics when students return to school. Schools complete repairs and renovations of facilities, equipment, and teaching aids before the school start day, as a basis for improving the quality of teaching and learning in the new school year," Mr. Lam said.
It is known that the People's Committee of Can Tho City has issued a decision to promulgate the 2026-2027 school year time plan for preschool education, general education and continuing education in Can Tho City.
Preschool children will return to school on August 24; elementary school students will return to school on August 26 (grade 1 students return to school on August 24); secondary, high school, and continuing education students will return to school on August 29 (grade 9 and grade 12 students return to school on August 22). Schools in Can Tho simultaneously open on September 5.
This school year, Can Tho City is expected to mobilize more than 689,860 children, students and trainees.
