Lang Son - After many years of management work, many vice principals voluntarily returned to teach when the province reorganized the school network.

Ready to return to being a teacher

After more than 10 years of holding the position of vice principal, Ms. Lam Thu Hue, Tan Lang Primary School, said that she has prepared her mindset to return to teaching since the locality implemented the school arrangement plan.

Ms. Hue was born in 1984, entered the education sector in 2010. In 2014, she was appointed deputy principal of Hoi Hoan Primary School; a year later, she transferred to hold the position of deputy principal of Tan Lang Primary School.

When seeking opinions on the arrangement plan, Ms. Hue and many deputy principals in the locality voluntarily registered to become teachers, creating conditions for personnel arrangement to be thuận lợi.

I have been mentally prepared for a long time, so I am ready to take on a new task. Having been trained and attached to the education sector for many years, I want to continue teaching according to my expertise, close to students," Ms. Hue shared.

Tan Lang Primary School currently has 141 students with 5 classes, each grade has one class.

According to Ms. Hue, after the merger, the scale of the whole school will be larger, but at each school point, the number of classes, teachers and students basically does not change. Therefore, teaching and learning activities can still be maintained stably.

I want to continue working in education, I have no desire to switch to another field. Whether in a management position or returning to teaching, I am still ready to perform the assigned tasks," Ms. Hue said.

Also voluntarily registering to return to work as a teacher, Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy, vice principal of Hoa Binh Kindergarten, Yen Binh commune, has worked in the industry for 18 years.

Ms. Thuy started working as a teacher in 2008 and was appointed as deputy principal of the school in September 2022. Before taking on management work, she had many years of directly caring for and teaching preschool children.

According to Ms. Thuy, changing positions does not change the responsibility of a teacher. Returning to teaching is also continuing the work that is suitable for your expertise, training process and experience.

She is ready to comply with the arrangement plan, continue to care for and educate children and support the school to stabilize operations after arrangement.

Mr. Do Minh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Na Sam commune, said that the locality currently has 11 educational institutions. According to the plan, after arrangement, the whole commune will have 5 schools, a reduction of 6 focal points; 24 management officials, teachers and staff subject to arrangement and rearrangement.

What is noteworthy is that all vice principals at schools in the area voluntarily registered to transfer to become teachers. The proactive and consensual spirit of the management staff helps the locality to be more convenient in arranging personnel, and at the same time supplement teachers directly teaching classes," Mr. Tuan said.

Reduced 288 establishments, transferred 409 management officials to become teachers

Lang Son Provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to arrange public educational institutions in 65 communes and wards. The plan is implemented in two phases, replacing the plan issued in June.

As of July 1, 2025, the whole province has 637 public educational institutions, serving more than 204,800 children and students. Among these, 325 schools meet national standards, accounting for 50.9%; 90 schools do not meet the minimum scale.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the entire sector is short of 283 people compared to the assigned payroll and short of 3,558 people if calculated according to norms, including 1,242 teachers.

The arrangement in the initial phase must be completed before August 30, the start of the 2026-2027 school year. After arrangement, Lang Son still has 375 educational institutions, a decrease of 262 institutions, equivalent to 41.1%. The new network has 242 branches and 456 school sites, a decrease of 107 points compared to July 2025.

At the end of the two phases, the whole province still has 349 facilities, a decrease of 288 facilities, equivalent to 45.2%.

Along with reducing focal points, the province plans to transfer 409 management officials to become teachers and transfer 210 teachers from surplus places to lacking grassroots levels.

About 180 redundant employees are considered for assignment to places lacking people, changing professional titles or resolving staff streamlining regimes.

The province affirms that the reorganization does not change the existing teaching location, school distance as well as policies and rights of students.
