In the context of many young families in urban areas having to work during office hours, the boarding school model has become a practical solution.
Students not only get to eat and rest at school but also participate in physical training activities, soft skills activities, helping parents feel secure at work.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha, a parent whose child is in grade 2 at an elementary school in Saigon ward, said: "Never home at noon, my husband and I, so the fact that our child is studying at the boarding school makes us feel very secure, no longer worrying about where to have lunch, what to eat, or what to do," said Ms. Ha.
Mr. Tran Quoc Dung, a parent in Binh Dong ward, said that boarding school also helps children have more time to spend with friends.
"My children have lunch break at school, and after school, they have more sports time. He rarely comes home from picking up his phone, instead telling friends many happy stories, knowing how to pack up things after meals, and keeping them more hygienic. This makes me feel secure and satisfied," Mr. Dung shared.
However, Mr. Dung also expressed concern about the quality of the meal. "Children eat every day at school, if the menu is not rich or the preparation is not hygienic, it will directly affect their health. Sometimes our parents cannot verify, so we are still wondering," he said.
At Tran Van On Secondary School, Principal Nguyen Doan Trang said that the school had about 2,100 students, of which more than 90% were boarding students.
Ms. Trang added that the boarding work was coordinated by the school with the unit providing direct cooking meals in the school kitchen, along with the support of the nanny team in taking care of meals and sleep for students.
To ensure safety, the kitchen is responsible for cleaning food every day and providing invoices and documents to the school. When receiving the food, the school checks and stores the food samples according to regulations.
In addition, boarding work has been strengthened under supervision from many sides. Every year, food hygiene and safety inspection teams come to the school to check. The Parents' Representative Board also regularly supervises the process of processing and storing samples.
According to Ms. Trang, boarding is first of all to meet the policy of two sessions/day at schools with facilities.
"Students get to eat and stay right at school, without having to travel much. Parents can work with peace of mind because their children are taken care of care of. In particular, having lunch at school helps students recharge their energy and feel more comfortable to continue studying in the afternoon. They are supervised by nannies and teachers, creating a sense of safety for parents," Ms. Nguyen Doan Trang shared.
