According to the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), as of 8 am on April 28, the whole country had more than 1.01 million candidates registered to take the 2026 high school graduation exam, of which 12th grade students accounted for the majority.
The system recorded 1,017,482 registered candidates, including 969,141 12th grade candidates (accounting for 95.25%) and 48,341 independent candidates (accounting for 4.75%).
The number of candidates exempted from the foreign language exam is 6,331, equivalent to 0.62%.

Notably, online registration continues to prevail with 1,004,398 candidates (98.71%), while direct registration is 13,084 candidates (1.29%).
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates can still adjust exam registration information until 5 pm on May 5.
After this time, candidates will not be allowed to change important information, including the registered exam subject.
For independent candidates, after online registration, the deadline for submitting applications is from May 5 to May 9.
The 2026 high school graduation exam will take place on June 10-12, in which on the 11th and 12th, 6 official candidates will take the exam.
Candidates taking the exam must take 4 exams, including 2 compulsory subjects, Math and Literature, and 2 elective subjects from the subjects studied at the school such as: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Economic and Legal Education, Informatics, Agricultural Technology, Industrial Technology and Foreign Languages.
