On the evening of October 9, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine reported on the review according to the Regulations on admission and training of doctoral qualifications for candidates admitted for research in 2025.
Previously, on September 30, the school announced the scoring results of the 2025 doctoral entrance exam. After that, information appeared on social networks that there was a problem in the admission process for candidate A.N.H.
Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine said that after checking, the school confirmed that there was a candidate named A.N.H on the admission list, who was admitted according to the correct process, had valid documents at the time of admission and had admission scores according to regulations.
Regarding the case of candidate A.N.H's relatives participating in the admission work, according to the school's training and doctoral admission regulations, if the staff and lecturer have relatives participating in the admission, they will not participate in any council in the exam.
In this case, there is a Associate Professor, Dr.BS, the mother of candidate A.N.H, who did not participate in any activities during this year's postgraduate admission, in accordance with the principle of excluding conflicts of interest and ensuring the provisions of the current Regulations on admission and training for doctoral degrees.
Regarding the issue related to the scientific paper that candidate A.N.H submitted for the exam, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine said that all scientific papers that candidates submitted were published in journals in the List of scientific journals with scores in 2025, meeting the admission criteria in the Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
At the time the candidate submitted their application, the candidate submitted 8 articles, including: 5 articles in domestic journals that were journals with 0-1 points according to the 2025 State Council of Professors classification and 3 articles in international journals, named in the Scopus List at the time of posting.
Based on the 8 papers submitted by the candidate, the total conversion score for research experience is 11 points, however, the maximum score (ceiling) for the research experience category is only 10 points, and this 10 points are used by the Professional Subcommittee to calculate the total score, the average total score of the candidate is 88.8 points.
On October 8, the school received a notice from the main author of an international paper, in the list of papers submitted by candidate A.N.H to calculate the exam scores with the published extract content.
The conversion score for candidates' research experience with the remaining 7 papers will be 9.5 points. Therefore, the Admissions Council agreed to reduce the average total score from 88.8 points to 88.3 points. With this score, it does not affect the admission results of the doctoral entrance exam.
"The school is committed to complying with the principle of scientific integrity in all activities of the school. If problems related to the scientific integrity of the collective and individuals of the school are discovered, they will continue to be reviewed, verified and handled according to regulations," the announcement stated.
