On January 4, the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province said that it had requested the People's Committee of Pleiku ward to promptly rectify and direct the Principal of Nguyen Van Troi Elementary School to strictly implement the Department's guidance contents related to boarding activities at public educational institutions.
Previously, on December 20, 2025, the Department of Education and Training issued an official dispatch guiding the People's Committees of communes, wards and affiliated units to implement Resolution No. 37/2025/NQ-HDND dated December 9, 2025 of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council.
This Resolution details the list of fees, collection levels, and management mechanisms for revenue and expenditure for services serving and supporting education and training activities at public educational institutions in the province, including content related to catering staff serving boarding activities.
However, on December 31, 2025, Ms. Bui Thi Phuong Hoa - Principal of Nguyen Van Troi Elementary School - issued a notice on the temporary suspension of semi-boarding activities for students, affecting semi-boarding activities in the area.
The school believes that Resolution No. 37/2025/NQ-HDND has not specifically mentioned the source of allowance payments for semi-boarding staff in 2026, so there is not enough legal basis to continue maintaining this activity. The temporary suspension of semi-boarding activities is from January 5, 2026.
In the announcement, Nguyen Van Troi Elementary School requested parents to proactively arrange time to pick up and drop off their children after morning school hours and before afternoon school hours according to the school's schedule.
Not only Nguyen Van Troi Elementary School, on December 31, 2025, Phan Dang Luu Elementary School (Bien Ho commune) also issued a document with similar content and notified parents through homeroom teachers.
Immediately after the announcements were issued, many parents expressed concern and frustration. According to them, boarding activities not only meet the lunch needs of students but are also a solution to help parents feel secure in their work, especially for young families, civil servants, public employees and those working far from home.
The temporary suspension of boarding when there is no alternative plan or specific roadmap has put many families in a passive position. Many students do not have the conditions to go home for lunch break and have to follow their parents to the office or send them to acquaintances, affecting health, psychology and learning quality.
