Gia Lai Police determined to hand over 87 houses in storm and flood areas 20 days early

Gia Lai - Nearly 1,000 police officers and soldiers are constructing day and night, determined to complete 87 houses for people in storm and flood areas before January 10, exceeding the schedule by 20 days.

On January 1, 2026, in Quy Nhon Dong ward (Gia Lai province), the Ministry of Public Security organized a groundbreaking ceremony, 15 days and nights of "Quang Trung Campaign" to accelerate the construction of houses for households whose houses were collapsed due to historic storms and floods recently.

After 1 month of campaign implementation, Gia Lai Provincial Police have completed and handed over 29/87 houses (reaching 33.3%); the remaining 58 houses reached over 80% of the progress. Nearly 1,000 officers and soldiers of police units and localities were mobilized to directly participate in repairing and building, working without days off, determined to rebuild homes for people before the 2026 Lunar New Year.

According to Major General Le Quang Nhan - Director of Gia Lai Provincial Police, implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign", the Provincial Police has coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to support the construction of 87 new houses for people in 18 communes and wards throughout the province. In the coming time, the police force is determined to complete all projects before January 10, 2026, 20 days earlier than the Government's request.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Standing Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - praised and acknowledged the efforts and sense of responsibility of the police force in building houses for people in storm and flood areas.

Regarding the task of building houses for affected households, the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, local authorities and armed forces to continue to closely coordinate; in which assigning the Provincial Police to take the lead in supporting and accompanying each household in the implementation process, accelerating progress, ensuring the quality of each project; soon hand over houses so that people can stabilize their lives.

Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen - Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry, Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Civil Defense of the Ministry of Public Security - said that "Quang Trung Campaign" is a mission of profound humanitarian significance, clearly showing the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Security in supporting people whose houses were completely collapsed due to natural disasters in the Central provinces.

He highly appreciated the proactive spirit of the police forces of the provinces in surveying, preparing ground, mobilizing forces and coordinating with the government to deploy the campaign according to the motto "urgent, effective".

Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen also noted the results that the Provincial Police have so far handed over more than 50% of the houses from Ha Tinh province to Lam Dong. He requested the police force to continue deploying the campaign, successfully completing it before January 10, 2026.
