According to Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of the Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, the distribution of high school graduation exam scores this year lower than in 2025 will directly affect the admission benchmark scores of universities.
Mr. Nhan assessed that, except for some majors in the health sector that may maintain relatively stable scores, most of the remaining major groups will tend to reduce benchmark scores.
Majors with very high benchmark scores in previous years will find it difficult to maintain the old level. Even majors with benchmark scores of about 24-25 points are likely to decrease this year," Mr. Nhan predicted.
According to him, the groups of engineering - technology, economics and social sciences are all affected by this year's score distribution. When the average exam score decreases, the benchmark score is also difficult to increase as high as in previous enrollment seasons.
For Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan predicts that the benchmark scores for many majors will fluctuate around 22-25 points, such as: Electrical - Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Automation Technology, Information Technology, Pharmacy, Business Administration, Law and E-commerce... The remaining majors can take a score of 17-21 points.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry enrolls students by many methods. The method of considering high school graduation exam results has benchmark scores ranging from about 17-26.5 points.
In 2026, the school plans to enroll about 12,000 students, mainly using a combined admission method of many criteria, including high school graduation exam scores, 12th grade academic results, competency assessment exam scores of Ho Chi Minh City National University and other achievements.
The school has also announced the input quality assurance threshold (floor score) according to the combined admission method for the regular university system in 2026.
At the Ho Chi Minh City campus, the floor score applied to all majors (except for Pharmacy and legal fields) is 18 points for the standard program and 17 points for the enhanced English program.
For Pharmacy and legal fields (including standard programs and enhanced English programs), the entrance threshold is implemented according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, which is 20 points.
At Quang Ngai Branch, the floor score applied to all majors is 16 points.
