Previously, in the 2024-2025 enrollment period, student C.T.H's exam scores for grade 10 at Le Hong Phong High School were announced as: Math 8 points, Literature 8.5 points, English 6.4 points (according to the formula of Math and Literature double points combined with English scores, this candidate achieved a total of 39.4/50 points).
With this score, candidate C.T.H is the valedictorian of the 2024 - 2025 school year of Le Hong Phong High School.
However, after attending for a short time, there was a complaint signed as "lesson of Le Hong Phong High School" sent to the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, stating that candidate C.T.H's score was not the real score.
The Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training Inspectorate conducted an inspection and review and the results were that candidate C.T.H only achieved the following results: Math 4.5 points, Literature 6.5 points and English 2.4 points (total 24.4 points); a difference of 15 points compared to the initial results. While the admission score is 28.4 points. Therefore, candidate C.T.H was not admitted to Le Hong Phong High School for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Chuc - Principal of Le Hong Phong High School, the discovery of the above huge difference in the score of candidate C.T.H was based on the complaint against only one case, not the whole competition.
According to the Inspectorate of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province, the cause of this incident is believed to be a "missing" in the process of reviewing and scoring at the Ngoc Lac High School Examination Prohibition Council.
Ngoc Lac High School Examination Council, led by Mr. Vu Ngoc Liem - Principal of Ngoc Lac High School, Chairman of the Council; Ho Chi Minh, up to the exam room score No. 6, Le Hong Phong High School Examination Council, including: Reading officer is Mrs. Ngo Thi Tuyet - Teacher (Mrs. Tuyet is Mr. Vu Ngoc Liem's wife); Reading control officer is Ms. Vu Thi Thuy; The score officer is Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh; The control officer is Ms. Tran Thi Tu. All of the above -mentioned officials are teachers of Ngoc Lac High School.
Explaining this mistake, Mr. Vu Ngoc Liem - Principal of Ngoc Lac High School, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that this was a regrettable mistake "if only there were no negative things". Due to great pressure and lack of concentration during work, the above mistake occurred.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung - Chief Inspector of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province also said that through the inspection and verification process of the incident, the family and the Examination Council confirmed that there were no negative factors in the contestants' mistake of scores.
However, Mr. Nguyen Van Chuc - Principal of Le Hong Phong High School and many others all thought that this confusion was too real and had never been seen before.
The Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training has organized a review of the responsibilities of relevant staff and teachers for errors in the process of reviewing and scoring. As a result, Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyet was disciplined with a reprimand; and Mr. Vu Ngoc Liem, Ms. Vu Thi Thuy, Ngo Thi Thanh and Tran Thi Tu were deeply affected.
Many big questions after the incident
Following the announcement of the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, on September 26, 2024, the Admissions Council of Le Hong Phong High School issued a notice that candidate C.T.H did not have enough points to pass the entrance exam, forcing him to stop studying.
However, immediately after this incident, student C.T.H still attended classes every day but was not recognized by the school as a student of the school. According to Ms. Chu Thi Tuyen - the mother of student C.T.H, when student H went to school, school staff often went to class to call C.T.H down and advised him to transfer to another school, the department teacher did not recognize H as a student, did not issue a certificate, did not call her name, did not score...
Discouraged, tired, and showing signs of depression, student C.T.H's family had to take a year off from school to review for re-examination next school year.
