The Lao Cai Specialized High School construction project was approved by the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee for implementation in the period of 2021-2025 with a total investment of 380 billion VND.
The Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is the investor of this project with a construction scale including the following items: classroom block, department - department - department - exam; library - hall with 2 blocks with a total construction floor area of about 34,849m2; canteen and service block with a total construction floor area of about 1,184m2.
Other items such as multi-purpose gymnasium with a total construction floor area of about 3,815m2; kitchen and student dormitory with a total construction floor area of about 6,103m2; exterior and auxiliary works, technical systems, fire prevention and fighting systems.
The project started in February 2024 and has now been basically completed.
On September 5, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, when standing outside Tran Hung Dao Avenue, people can easily observe the large school in shape.
Currently, the main buildings have been completed for the school to install furniture, the traffic system, and the sports field have also been completed.
At the inauguration ceremony of the school, Mr. Tran Huy Tuan - Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee - emphasized: "Lao Cai Specialized High School today is the modern "house of knowledge", a symbol of the special attention that the Party Committee, government and people of Lao Cai province have paid to the cause of education and training. I believe the school will continue to be the leading flag, nurturing talent, contributing to affirming the educational position of the province in the region and the whole country.
The Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee believes that entering the 2025-2026 school year, Lao Cai Specialized High School will continue to promote the tradition of good teaching - good learning, effectively exploiting the newly invested modern facilities, aiming to become a high-quality training center of the Northwest region.
It is known that Lao Cai High School for the Gifted currently has 1,113 students. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school marked a remarkable step forward when for the first time, students won first prize in Mathematics, first prize in National History and especially, Nguyen Huy Phong won the Bronze Medal in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad.
