Proposal to handle thousands of corrupt and wasteful collectives and individuals
On September 5, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave its opinion on the Government's reports on crime prevention and control and law violations, execution of judgments, and corruption prevention and control in 2025.
In a report to clarify the work of preventing waste, Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong emphasized identifying the viewpoint of preventing waste on par with preventing corruption and negativity.
Recently, the Government Inspectorate inspected the second facility project of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital in Ha Nam, thereby determining that these two projects wasted over 1,200 billion VND.
Implementing the direction of the Central Steering Committee, the Government and the Prime Minister, the Inspectorate is conducting two large-scale inspections nationwide.
The first topic is inspection and prevention of waste in the management and use of real estate facilities managed by agencies, units and state-owned enterprises, which will be basically completed by the end of 2025.
The second topic is to conduct inspections of projects with difficulty and long-standing problems that are at risk of loss and waste.
"This will be basically completed by September 30, to create conditions to remove difficulties and free up resources for socio-economic development," said the Government Inspector General.
Regarding the implementation of anti-corruption measures, in 2025, according to the Government Inspector General, many measures have been implemented with positive results, but there are still shortcomings and limitations.
Therefore, in the coming time, the Government Inspectorate will continue to advise the Government and the Prime Minister to direct all levels and sectors to strictly and effectively implement corruption prevention measures.
"The Government Inspectorate is advising the Government to submit to the National Assembly a Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Anti-Corruption to improve the effectiveness of preventive measures such as transparency in the organization and operation of agencies and units; administrative reform; application of digital transformation science in the management and control of income assets, etc. ", said Mr. Doan Hong Phong.
Regarding inspection work, handling complaints and denunciations, contributing to the detection and handling of corruption and waste, according to the Government Inspector General, this work continues to be implemented synchronously, thereby, many violations have been discovered, thousands of collectives and individuals have been recommended to be handled, hundreds of cases and subjects have been transferred to the investigation agency for handling according to their authority.
Controlling the power to prevent corruption in inspection activities
Implementing the direction of the Central Steering Committee, the Government, and the Prime Minister, the Government Inspector General said that the inspection sector will focus on inspecting sensitive areas that are of public interest to, prone to corruption and negative waste, increasing the disclosure of inspection activities, strictly ensuring objectivity in accordance with the law and feasibility.
He also affirmed that the Inspectorate continues to strictly implement Regulation 131 of the Politburo on controlling the power to prevent corruption and negativity in inspection activities.
Collectives and individuals who commit violations will be strictly handled according to the law.
In response to the opinions of the inspection agency, members of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the Inspector General said that they will report to the Government and the Prime Minister to continue to lead, direct, operate and focus on comprehensively directing the implementation of measures on preventing and combating waste and negativity in the coming time.
