According to data from the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) of Dong Thap province announced at the press conference in August 2026 held on August 25, the total number of staff assigned to the entire sector is currently 39,984 people, of which the current number is 37,506 people (including 1,506 management staff, 33,053 teachers and 2,947 employees).
With the merger, reducing a series of school sites (down 65.1% compared to the beginning of July 2025), the personnel apparatus of the Dong Thap education sector has had a strong shift, especially in leadership positions.
The number of management officials (CBQL) before the arrangement was 2,313 people, now reduced to only 1,408 people.
Thus, the whole province has reduced 905 CBQL, equivalent to a streamlining rate of up to 39.1%. To solve the problem of redundant leadership personnel, the Department of Education and Training has implemented flexible plans. In which, 786 CBQL have been transferred to professional work such as taking on the role of Team Leader, Deputy Team Leader or directly teaching classes. In addition, 119 CBQL have applied for resignation according to the regime of Decree 154.
For the force of educational support staff, the total number before arrangement is 2,499 people. Currently, the province has rearranged jobs for 2,419 people and only 80 employees are waiting for arrangement.
The merger and streamlining of the apparatus is a major policy, but it also directly affects the thoughts, aspirations and rights of teachers and school staff. To thoroughly and thoroughly resolve this issue, on August 18, 2026, Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 2790/UBND-TH on deploying the management of teachers; resolving policies for education officials; adjusting staff and storing records due to the arrangement of educational institutions.
According to the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial People's Committee directed to resolve the regime for leaders, managers and educational support personnel affected by the arrangement to be implemented urgently and transparently. The province has assigned specific responsibilities to the Department of Home Affairs, Department of Education and Training, and Department of Finance to closely coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and wards to review the entire list.
According to the plan, functional agencies will have to conduct appraisal, submit to the Council for consideration of dossiers and approve the list of subjects to implement staff streamlining. The entire list must be submitted to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for approval, ensuring completion before September 30, 2026 to stabilize the organization and help teachers feel secure in their work in the new school year.
