On the morning of May 27, nearly 24,000 candidates in Lao Cai officially entered the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2026 - 2027 school year with the first exam subject being Literature.
The exam takes place from May 27 - 29. 2026. On the first exam day, in the morning, candidates take the Literature exam in essay form, time 120 minutes; in the afternoon, they take the English or Chinese exam in multiple-choice form, time 60 minutes.
On May 28, candidates continued to take the Math exam in multiple-choice format with a test time of 90 minutes.
After the common exams, candidates registering for specialized schools will take the corresponding specialized subject exam from the afternoon of May 28th to the end of May 29th in essay form, with a duration of 150 minutes.
According to the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Education and Training, this year's exam, the whole province organized 66 exam councils with more than 1,000 exam rooms and over 23,930 registered candidates.
This is an exam with a large number of candidates, carefully prepared by the local education sector in terms of human resources, facilities as well as security and safety assurance plans and correct implementation of exam regulations.
Previously, in the afternoon of May 26, candidates completed exam procedures at exam sites in the province.
Here, candidates are instructed to check personal information, registration numbers, exam rooms; correct hồ sơ errors if any, and listen to the dissemination of regulations, exam schedules and notes during the exam.
The preparation of facilities, exam room arrangement, listing of candidates and exam room diagrams have been completed by the exam councils before the time of completing procedures.
Police, teachers and volunteer youth were also arranged at the exam sites to support traffic diversion, guide candidates and parents, and ensure security and order throughout the exam.
