Recently, the situation of criminals taking advantage of high technology to defraud students has tended to increase. At the University of Finance - Business Administration (Hung Yen province), there are many cases of subjects forging documents and notices from the school to send to students with the content of "atus granted scholarships", "participating in study abroad programs" or "receiving financial support".
These notices often require recipients to deposit a large amount of "financial proof" into their personal accounts, with the threat that if they do not transfer the money, they will lose the opportunity to study abroad or a scholarship. There have been students who have chosen to follow instructions and were tricked into transferring money, but thanks to the timely intervention of the police and the school, the damage has been prevented.
Through verification, the above documents were all forged seals and leadership signatures, and had no legal value. The school's Board of Directors affirmed that all information about international admissions, scholarships, and study abroad is only published through websites, fanpages, and official media channels. Students absolutely do not trust strange messages, emails or documents, do not transfer money to personal accounts without verification from a study advisor or school.
The school recommends that students carefully check the origin of the document, compare it with the official channel, and immediately report to the study counselor or the Board of Directors when receiving unusual notices. Each student needs to proactively propagate to friends and relatives to avoid falling into scams.
In the coming time, the Provincial Police Youth Union will coordinate with the Youth Union of the University of Finance - Business Administration to organize propaganda sessions, disseminate legal education on cyber security, and instruct on high-tech crime prevention skills. This activity aims to help union members and students raise their vigilance, proactively protect themselves and support the community in identifying new scams.
