Nurturing dreams from exam preparation days
In the scorching sun of May, we came to the Nhon Hoi border school (An Giang province), clearly feeling the urgent and exciting exam preparation atmosphere of teachers and students of Quoc Thai Secondary School before the important exam.

In the old classrooms, many items are degraded, scattered and unsynchronized tables and chairs, teachers here still quietly stick to the school, stick to the classroom, wholeheartedly reviewing for students each Math problem, Literature question, and English lesson.
For students in the border region here, the 10th grade entrance exam not only marks an important level change but also an opportunity for them to get closer to their dreamed future.

Do Hoang Ngan (9A3 student) shared that she started preparing for the exam quite early. In addition to diligently reviewing the 3 main subjects, she also actively got acquainted with the types of entrance exam questions according to the direction of the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province. After the end-of-semester II exam, she and her friends entered the stage of accelerating review to prepare for the important exam ahead.
Having won the Third Prize at the provincial level for excellent students in English, Ngan is determined to try her hand at the specialized English class of Thoai Ngoc Hau High School for the Gifted (Long Xuyen ward). For Ngan, it is not only her own dream but also a motivation to continue the learning journey that her older sister used to carry out.
Growing up in a border area with many difficulties, Ngan understands that she is still more deprived than many peers in the central area. But she has never seen circumstances as a reason to give up. "I just hope to study really well so that I can change my own future later, and more importantly, help my parents reduce the hard days and have a more peaceful life," Ngan confided.

For Truong Ngoc Nghia (9A4 student), exam preparation has been clearly planned and disciplined right at home. Every week, he divides his time equally for 3 main subjects: two days studying Math, two days studying English, two days studying Literature. From studying, eating to resting, he tries to maintain scientific discipline to have enough endurance for the exam preparation journey.
Nghia confided: "I hope to pass the entrance exam to Quoc Thai High School, and try to enter the selected class later to continue studying well." This young student just won a consolation prize in Informatics in the provincial excellent student exam. That achievement is even more precious when nurtured from a border school that is still lacking in learning conditions.
Nghia understands that the results of the exam do not come from the "last resort" days of studying, but are accumulated by diligence and determination every day. He also early realized the difficulties of many peers, when many students had to drop out of school early or switch to vocational training due to the burden of making a living.
That is what further motivates Nghia to try harder, seeing studying as a path to open up a better future for himself and his family.
Support from teachers in difficult areas
Mr. Pham Hoang Vu - Vice Principal of Quoc Thai Secondary School said that this school year has 1,514 students, a decrease of 53 students compared to the beginning of the year, partly reflecting the specific difficulties of the border locality. The 9th grade class currently has 353 students, of which 343 students registered to take the 10th grade entrance exam.

To prepare for the upcoming exam, the school has proactively developed a review plan early, closely following the guidance of the Department of Education and Training. In addition to completing the official curriculum, professional groups also focus on systemizing knowledge, integrating exam preparation right in each lesson. After the end of the end-of-term exam, the school continues to spend time to strengthen review for students.
Not only diligently consolidating knowledge, every exam season, teachers are also busy checking classrooms, rearranging tables and chairs, preparing the smallest conditions for students to feel secure in entering the important exam.

At Quoc Thai Secondary School, the most precious thing is probably not the spacious classrooms or sufficient facilities, but the dedication of teachers and the will to rise up of students in the border area who are nurturing their dreams with letters every day.
The 10th grade entrance exam to public high schools, specialized high schools and ethnic minority boarding high schools in An Giang province will take place in 2 days, June 2nd and 3rd. Specifically, on June 2nd, candidates take Literature and English exams; on June 3rd, candidates take Math and specialized subjects (for specialized blocks).
