On the morning of March 19, An Giang Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 3 inter-level boarding schools in Ba Chuc, Vinh Dieu, and Vinh Xuong communes according to the policy of investing in building schools for border communes with a total estimated investment of more than 642 billion VND.
Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra attended the groundbreaking ceremony at Ba Chuc Primary and Secondary Boarding School (THCS) located in Ba Chuc commune, An Giang province.
Phase 2, An Giang has 6 inter-level boarding general education schools for primary and secondary schools implemented in the mainland border communes: Ba Chuc, Vinh Dieu, Vinh Xuong, An Phu, Phu Huu and Nhon Hoi.
The Ba Chuc Primary and Secondary Boarding School project is invested in renovation and new construction on a total area of nearly 4.5 hectares. The total estimated investment capital is more than 189 billion VND, implemented until the end of August 2027.
The school is built. The school has a scale of 45 classes, including 3 Primary School classes and 32 Secondary School classes with a total of 1,500 students.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee - said: Implementing the direction of the Central Government, on November 9, 2025, together with localities across the country, An Giang province organized the simultaneous groundbreaking of 3 Boarding School projects in land border communes, including: Vinh Gia, Giang Thanh and Khanh Binh. Up to now, the projects have started and implemented progress of over 50%, good quality, ensuring the goal of completion before August 30, 2026 and putting them into operation in the 2026-2027 school year.
In addition to constructing works, the province also proactively prepares and ensures conditions to put projects into operation immediately after completion of construction, before the new school year opening, including preparation for organizational structure, curriculum, operating expenses and other necessary conditions as prescribed.
In the next phase, An Giang province will deploy 6 schools in the remaining 6 land border communes in the province. The locality will continue to fully grasp the direction of the Central Government on investing in the construction of Inter-level Boarding Schools in land border communes with the motto of deployment "urgent - drastic - sure - effective", ensuring the 6 clear principles.
“Based on that, continue to direct departments, branches and localities to closely coordinate and provide maximum support to investors and related units throughout the project implementation process, ensuring progress and quality. At the same time, strengthen inspection and supervision of implementation, preventing losses, waste, and negativity. We believe that each school project built in the border region of the Fatherland will truly become a school of faith, knowledge, and aspiration to rise up for children of border areas,” Ms. Thuy emphasized.
Also this morning, An Giang Provincial People's Committee also started construction of 2 primary and secondary boarding schools in Vinh Xuong and Vinh Dieu communes. In which, Vinh Xuong Primary and Secondary Boarding School has a total estimated investment of more than 272 billion VND. The school has a scale of 40 classes with 1,400 students. It is expected to have 300 students boarding.
In Vinh Dieu commune, Vinh Dieu Primary - Secondary Boarding School has a construction scale of 30 classrooms and 1,000 students. It is expected to accommodate 300 students, with a total estimated investment of about 180 billion VND.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra also presented 20 gifts to students in difficult circumstances who are good at studying, and 10 gifts to teachers in difficult circumstances.
