Require schools not to combine many fees, not to collect many fees in advance to prevent overcharging
In the 2025-2026 school year, many localities require schools to seriously implement the fees collected at the beginning of the year to avoid overcharging. The Hai Phong Department of Education and Training has issued a document requiring all fees to be transparent, have a legal basis, not to combine many fees, and not to collect many fees in advance. The head of an educational institution is fully responsible, if overcharging occurs, it will be strictly handled.

In Lam Dong, the Department of Education and Training also clearly guides the fees allowed for collection such as: life skills activities, outside of school hours, student health insurance, exploitation of public assets, mobilization of funding... Some other fees such as pick-up and drop-off services, extracurricular experiences, electronic contact books... are only collected based on voluntary agreements with parents. On the contrary, many fees such as extra teaching in school, uniform fees, classroom hygiene, drinking water, etc. are prohibited.
According to general regulations, from the 2025-2026 school year, tuition and tuition fees are two absolutely non-collected fees. At the same time, Circular 55 2011 of the Ministry of Education and Training also lists 10 other prohibitions such as: facility protection fees, teachers' rewards, construction repair costs, equipment purchases for schools... to protect the rights of students and parents, ensuring publicity and transparency in educational contributions. Teaching 2 sessions/day: Parents hope their children will have less pressure
From the 2025-2026 school year, teaching 2 sessions/day will become mandatory for primary schools nationwide, while secondary and high schools are encouraged to implement depending on conditions. In Hanoi, 100% of primary schools have organized 2 sessions/day, while secondary and high schools flexibly apply the facilities of each school.
Many parents agree with this policy because it helps their children stay safe, have more useful activities and parents work with peace of mind. However, parents also suggest that in the afternoon, they should prioritize homework and life skills instead of teaching culture to reduce the pressure of studying, avoiding the situation where students are overloaded when coming home.

Some schools have begun to collect parents' opinions on organizing life skills classes on Saturday mornings at reasonable fees. The families shared that although sometimes picking up and dropping off is difficult, in general, the 2-session/day model brings benefits to students in studying, practicing and developing comprehensively. Students expressed their interest and desire to learn from people with practical experience in the fields of art, sports, fashion, ... to better understand their career and have suitable choices for the future. Schools such as Nguyen Du Secondary School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) plan to build programs with 2 topics each semester, inviting artists to share about cultural values, life skills and beautiful lifestyles.

Fearing dirty food, parents in Lam Dong pick up their children from school before meals
The People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward (Da Lat, Lam Dong) said it is coordinating with the Provincial Police and relevant agencies to investigate the case related to the T.V Primary School, which was accused of having a contract with a food supplier that did not ensure the quality of students' meals. Initial information shows that many times suppliers deliver food such as pork bones, beef balls, pork, beef, shrimp... with signs of spoilage, odor, and even change of color.
The school's kitchen department has repeatedly reported and requested to return or destroy poor quality food and reported to the principal. However, the school's leaders have not taken any drastic measures to handle the situation, causing kitchen staff and parents to worry about the safety of students' health. A meeting with parents to discuss the issue of meals, although proposed from June 2025, has not been held.
In response to concerns about food safety risks, on September 16, many parents went to school to pick up their children before lunch. The incident is currently being further verified and clarified by authorities to ensure the rights and health of students. See more...
