Teachers revise exam papers, lower students' scores, schools re-grade all papers
Regarding the case of an English teacher being accused of arbitrarily correcting lessons and lowering scores for a series of students at Nguyen Van Cu Elementary School (Quy Nhon Nam ward, Gia Lai), Principal Mac Hoan To Quyen said that the school has collected all test papers taught by Ms. T.T.K.N to verify. Not only 19 papers were reflected by parents, all related test papers were re-graded outside of school hours, so the clarification process needs more time.

The school affirmed that from the beginning of the school year, it has requested teachers to sign commitments on teacher ethics and tutoring - extra classes, and has not recorded any feedback on tutoring against regulations. However, before suspicion that the reduction in scores is related to students not taking extra classes at the teacher's house, the school continues to verify. Ms. N. is currently being extended and temporarily suspended from work, and the incident has been reported to the Ward People's Committee to wait for handling instructions.
According to parents' reflections, many exam papers show signs of interference such as adding letters and words to make wrong answers, greatly affecting students' psychology. Ms. N. admitted to arbitrarily correcting the paper, explaining that doing so was because she was worried that students getting high scores would be subjective. However, leaders of Gia Lai Department of Education and Training affirmed that this is an unreasonable explanation, emphasizing that teachers are not allowed to correct papers or lower students' scores for any subjective reason. Principals collecting bonuses from teachers is not in accordance with morality and law
According to reports, after receiving bonuses according to Decree 73 of the Government, teachers were required to return 4.4 million VND/person in cash on the grounds of expenses for sightseeing and "external, sensitive" expenses of the school. When teachers expressed concern about the collection level and collection method, not only were they not explained satisfactorily, but they were also blamed and accused, considering the legal bonus as "money falling from the sky".
Legally, bonuses according to Decree 73 are the legal income of employees, no individual or organization has the right to force them to return them, and it is even more impossible to collect cash outside the books, lacking transparency. This act shows signs of violating financial management regulations, abusing power and infringing on the legitimate rights of teachers. See more...
