12th grade students ready for the high school graduation exam
The 2025 high school graduation exam is the first year of applying the 2018 general education program, with many innovations that make students worried, especially in using exam results for university admission. Many students like Thuy Trang and Minh Quan shared their feelings of pressure when reviewing for the graduation exam and preparing for admission, in the context that this year there is no longer an early admission form as before.

Ho Chi Minh City has a total of 99,578 candidates registered to take the exam, of which nearly 98,000 candidates are under the 2018 program. The city organizes 171 exam points with 4,242 exam rooms, including 168 exam points for the new program and 3 exam points for the old program. All exam locations are guaranteed in terms of facilities and security, with backup exam rooms and a strict security system.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training mobilized a large force to serve the exam, including more than 12,700 supervisors, nearly 2,400 employees, along with the police force, officers printing stars and transporting exam papers. Minister of Education: Circular 29 does not prohibit teachers from teaching extra classes, but only manages
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son affirmed that Circular 29 does not prohibit extra teaching but only adjusts some points, such as not allowing teachers to teach main courses to force students to attend extra classes, avoiding conflicts of interest and reducing transparency. The Minister emphasized that students have the right to learn from good teachers and the Circular is only a management tool, not to completely ban extra teaching.

To solve the root problem of the widespread problem of extra teaching, the Minister said that it is necessary to improve the quality of regular teaching hours, focusing on the teaching staff to be wholehearted and not dispersed. The Minister of Education noted that if teachers spend too much time on extra teaching, it will be difficult to ensure the quality of regular teaching. In addition, it is necessary to ensure reasonable classroom numbers, adequate facilities, innovation in testing, application of technology and increase libraries and learning data to support students in self-study.
