Plan to merge local universities and colleges
Many localities have proposed plans to arrange and merge public educational institutions, including universities and colleges, to streamline the apparatus and improve training quality. Ca Mau province plans to keep Bac Lieu University, while merging a number of medical colleges, vocational colleges and community colleges to form larger-scale and more autonomous schools.
For the medical training sector, the Ministry of Health proposes to rearrange and reorganize public service units in the spirit of streamlining the apparatus. Some hospitals will be transferred to practice hospitals for medical universities such as Da Nang Orthopedic Hospital to Da Nang University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Central Hospital 71 to Hanoi Medical University. Hanoi announces 34 valedictorians of the Excellent Student Competition, many students from village schools appear
The Hanoi High School Excellent Student Competition for the 2025-2026 school year has more than 4,900 candidates participating, the largest number in the country. Of which, over 2,800 students won prizes, including 142 first prizes, 596 second prizes, 807 third prizes and 1,290 consolation prizes. The exam is organized in two groups: group A for non-professional students with one exam session per subject, and group B for professional students with the majority of subjects in two sessions.
Group A has 14 valedictorians, of which Yen Hoa High School is the only school with two valedictorians, with Nguyen Vu Tuan Minh achieving absolute scores in IT and Nguyen Gia Khanh achieving the valedictorian in Chemistry.
In Group B, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted dominated with 12 valedictorians in many subjects such as Geography, Chemistry, History, Biology, Informatics, Math, Chinese and Physics. The valedictorian of Group B's IT subject is Le Trong Khoi with a score of nearly 39.5/40. See more...

Universities that admit 30 students incorrectly can suspend admission for up to 18 months
The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) plans to amend and supplement Decree No. 04/2021/ND-CP to strengthen sanctions for violations of regulations on university admission subjects. The amendment includes adding additional penalties such as suspending enrollment activities for 12-18 months for admission majors that violate serious regulations, and adding measures to force agreements to transfer learners to other educational institutions or cancel admission decisions and refund funding if learners do not accept.
In current practice, the fines for the act of enrolling students who are less than 10 people to more than 30 students are from 10 million-150 million VND depending on the level of violation.
