From the beginning of August, when it was still summer vacation, officials and teachers at schools in the highlands of Quang Tri province returned to school to prepare for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
At A Ngo Primary and Secondary School, officials and teachers together cleaned the campus, cleaned classrooms, arranged tables and chairs, experimental equipment and checked the conditions for teaching.
Not only the main school site, but also the schools located deep in the villages are carefully cleaned by teachers. From window frames, tables and chairs to boards after many months of summer vacation, they are cleaned and rearranged to be ready to welcome students.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hung - Vice Principal of A Ngo Primary and Secondary School said that this school year has 33 classes with 709 students, mostly children of ethnic minorities Van Kieu and Pa Co.

According to Mr. Hung, besides preparing facilities and organizing training for officials and teachers, an important task before the school opening day is to mobilize students to return to class fully.
The school has developed a plan, assigned teachers to go to the villages, to each stilt house to meet parents and students, and mobilize them to prepare to return to school. The goal is to firmly grasp the situation of each student, minimizing cases of not coming to class at the beginning of the school year" - Mr. Ngo Duy Hung said.
After the summer vacation, many highland students follow their parents to the fields; some students can work part-time far away. Therefore, teachers will divide into groups, in charge of each area to meet families, remind students to prepare books, clothes and necessary supplies.

For those in difficult circumstances, teachers will directly grasp information and report to school leaders to have support plans, and at the same time connect resources to help students have sufficient conditions to attend classes.
Ms. Le Thi Huong - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province said that mobilizing students to attend classes is also one of the tasks that the Education and Training sector of Quang Tri province focuses on in the new school year, especially in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border areas and areas with many difficulties.
According to the 2026 - 2027 school year plan of the sector, educational institutions must continue to consolidate the results of universal education, illiteracy eradication; implement solutions to mobilize children and students to go to school, maintain enrollment and limit dropouts. The Education sector also requires the full and timely implementation of tuition fee exemption and reduction policies; supporting tuition fees, meals, accommodation, transportation, textbooks and school supplies. The point of view is not to let students drop out of school or not be able to go to school due to economic circumstances, geographical conditions or lack of schools.
