On May 9, information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Van Thanh has just signed and issued Official Dispatch No. 4941/UBND-TH on paying salaries to contract workers at the district level (old), thereby removing difficulties for 234 teachers and contract employees who have not received salaries for many months due to mechanism problems.

According to the official dispatch, the Provincial People's Committee assigns communes and wards to balance the funding for tuition fee compensation assigned in 2026 to pay salaries to contract workers according to the 2025 benefit level, calculated from January 1, 2026 until the Provincial People's Council assigns contract targets according to Decree No. 111/2022/ND-CP or other directions from the Provincial People's Committee.
This is considered good news for hundreds of teachers and contract employees at public educational institutions in Nghe An after a long period of anxiety because they have not been paid their salaries.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reflected, due to problems in arranging contract targets and funding sources after arranging administrative units, many teachers and contract employees in the province, although still working and lecturing normally, have not received salaries in the first months of 2026.
In particular, in some localities of the old Nam Dan district such as Kim Lien, Dai Hue, Nam Dan, Thien Nhan, Van An..., many contract teachers and staff fell into difficulties due to lack of income to cover living expenses.
According to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, the whole province currently has 234 cases of teachers and contract employees facing similar problems. The main reason is that communes and wards have not been assigned contract targets according to Decree No. 111/2022/ND-CP, while local budget sources are still limited.
After many petitions and coordination documents between the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Finance and localities, the People's Committee of Nghe An province has directed to remove obstacles to ensure the rights of workers and stabilize teaching activities at public schools.
