The choice of two French medical resident doctors closed a tense afternoon with important decisions for the career path of hundreds of doctors.
At Match Day 2026 event on the afternoon of September 9, contestants were successively named in order of total exam scores from highest to lowest. People with higher rankings are entitled to choose their major first, within the remaining quotas updated directly on the central screen.
When the event reached the final choices, when many doctors chose to give up not calling out their majors, not studying as resident doctors, two doctors Truong Viet Anh and Do Tat Binh jointly registered for the medical law major.
According to the certificate of confirmation of exam results and specialized registration, doctor Truong Viet Anh achieved a total score of 18.83; doctor Do Tat Binh achieved 18.75 points. Both entered the medical resident doctor training program for 3 years, from 2026-2029.
After completing the registration, the two new resident doctors took photos with the teacher welcoming them to the Faculty of Medicine. In the hall, in each person's hand was a confirmation paper confirming the selection of the major that had just been signed, marking the beginning of a new training journey.
The moment the two doctors finally chose Medicine also closed the specialty selection process at Match Day 2026.
According to information from Hanoi Medical University, the 2026 resident doctor enrollment exam has 1,114 registered candidates, of which 780 people reached the quality assurance threshold and are eligible to participate in Match Day.
The total approved target is 444, allocated to 37 training programs belonging to clinical, paraclinical and basic medicine blocks.
At Match Day, the remaining quotas of each major are updated in real time. When the final quota of a major is selected, the system automatically locks that major. The candidate's decision is only officially effective after directly signing the confirmation in the major registration book.
According to the school, after Match Day ends, requests to change majors will not be received and resolved. Therefore, each choice made at the hall not only determines the training program for the next three years, but also opens up the direction for long-term professional development of young doctors.
