On March 2nd, information from Na Loi Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School, Nghe An province, said that at about 9 pm on February 23rd, 2026, two female students, L.H. A (8A class) and L.H. D (8B class), voluntarily left the dormitory and followed two young men residing in Xam Xum village, Muong Long commune.
After the families of the two young men followed local customs, confirming that they were daughters-in-law in the family, the incident was discovered.
Immediately after that, the Board of Directors of Na Loi Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School coordinated with functional agencies to verify and resolve the case. The school directly met with the families of the children to propagate about marriage and family law, as well as the negative consequences of early marriage for the future and health of children.
By the morning of March 2, 2026, the students' families had informed the school about the decision to let the female students return to class on March 3.
Na Loi Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School also said that it will strengthen the management and inspection of extracurricular semi-boarding discipline and promote propaganda to prevent early marriage and consanguineous marriage. At the same time, the school will organize psychological counseling activities to help students stabilize and reintegrate into the school environment soon.
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Tan Phuong, Principal of Na Loi Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School, said that both female students were good students and did not show suspicious signs. Before being "kidnapped" to be his wife, L.H. A was the class monitor of class 8A.
This event once again emphasizes the necessity of stronger measures in preventing early marriage, especially in ethnic minority areas, where the custom of "kidnapping wives" still exists.
