On January 14, leaders of Hung Dao Ward People's Committee (Hai Phong City) confirmed: The locality has sent a document to Binh Duong International Investment Joint Stock Company (Shattuck-St.Mary's Vietnam International School, located in Tra Khe 1 Residential Group, Hung Dao Ward, Hai Phong City) requesting the school to stop enrollment and stop educational activities from January 12, 2026; complete all legal documents, only be allowed to enroll and organize educational activities when there are full legal conditions and documents according to the provisions of law.
Previously, the inspection team of Hung Dao Ward People's Committee with representatives of Binh Duong International Investment Joint Stock Company (Shattuck-St. Mary's International School Vietnam) had a working session on information related to the school not being licensed to operate but having announced massive enrollment.

After the working session, Hung Dao Ward People's Committee issued report No. 09/BC-UBND dated January 13, 2026 to Hai Phong City People's Committee, Hai Phong Department of Education and Training, in which it affirmed: Immediately after receiving the information, Hung Dao Ward People's Committee issued a Decision to establish an inspection team to verify and clarify the contents related to Binh Duong International Investment Joint Stock Company (Shattuck-St. Mary's International School Vietnam).
Through actual dossier inspection, Binh Duong International Investment Joint Stock Company has not provided decisions allowing the establishment, decisions allowing educational activities for Shattuck-St.Mary's Vietnam International School (Address: Tra Khe 1 residential group, Hung Dao ward, Hai Phong city) of competent authorities. Thus, according to current regulations, Shattuck-St.Mary's Vietnam International School is not allowed to enroll students and organize educational activities according to regulations.
In fact, Binh Duong International Investment Joint Stock Company (Shattuck-St. Mary's International School Vietnam) has been enrolling students since August 2025. Up to now, the school has enrolled 33 students, including students from elementary to high school who are Vietnamese and foreigners.
Hung Dao Ward People's Committee proposed that Hai Phong City People's Committee direct the Department of Education and Training and relevant city departments and agencies to inspect, propose handling plans and guide Binh Duong International Investment Joint Stock Company (Shattuck-St. Mary's International School Vietnam) to complete all types of legal documents in accordance with the law.
Hung Dao Ward People's Committee also requested the school to complete all legal documents, only allowed to enroll students and organize educational activities when there are full legal conditions and dossiers according to the provisions of law.
Previously, Binh Duong International Investment Joint Stock Company (Shattuck-St. Mary's International School Vietnam) announced widespread admissions with the following information: Shattuck-St. Mary's International Vietnam School was established in 2023 and opened its first school year in August 2025. Regarding the teaching staff, the school introduces that more than 90% of teachers and staff are American, with more than 75% with high degrees and an average of more than 11 years of experience. The school currently enrolls from pre-primary to 10th grade, with a 100% US standard curriculum and students need to be able to use 100% English throughout the school day. The tuition fee is expensive, from 349,350,000 VND/year for pre-primary to more than 1.178 billion VND/year for high school. This tuition fee includes shuttle bus and meals.
