According to the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City, grade 9 students will register through the online system deployed by the department.
Each student will have a maximum of 8 wishes for grade 10. These include 3 regular 10th grade wishes, 2 specialized 10th grade wishes and 3 integrated 10th grade wishes.
After students complete their registration, it is expected that on May 14, the department will announce the initial data of students registering for wishes. After that, if needed, students can change their wishes until before 5:00 p.m. on May 19. However, they are only allowed to change their wishes, and cannot be added or removed from the registration list.
Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the enrollment target for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year in public high schools with a total of more than 70,000 targets, reaching a rate of 79% compared to the number of students expected to graduate from grade 9 with more than 88,000 students.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 6 and 7. Candidates will take 3 subjects: Math, Literature (120 minutes/subject) and Foreign Language (90 minutes, according to foreign language 1 being studied at school). Candidates who register for a specialized school or integrated class will take an additional exam in a specialized subject or equivalent integrated (150 minutes).
This year, depending on the number of actual records and the needs of the schools, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will consider additional admissions to high schools that still lack many targets.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City has about 116,000 students graduating from junior high school, of which more than 98,000 students registered to take the 10th grade entrance exam. The total enrollment target of public high schools is more than 77,000 students.
