Artificial Intelligence is gradually becoming a familiar part of the learning environment, from high school to university.
Many students in Ho Chi Minh City have accessed and used tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI to support their studies.
Sharing with reporters, Nguyen Hoai Linh, a 12th grade student (Tam Binh ward) said that he often uses AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google AI to support learning, especially in natural science subjects.
According to Linh, AI helps him understand difficult problems, suggest solutions or support content development for presentations in class.
"AI helps me save time and access knowledge faster. However, I do not consider this a tool to give the absolute correct answer. There are contents that AI explains that are not really accurate or not close to the curriculum," Linh said.
Similarly, Nguyen Dang Huu, an 11th grade student (Xuan Hoa ward) said that he often uses the Gemini tool to support solving difficult exercises or translating English documents. According to Huu, AI brings many benefits, but cannot completely replace basic knowledge as well as the role of teachers.
With simple questions, I often do it myself first before using AI to check again. For difficult or ununderstanding lessons, I still prioritize asking teachers for more specific explanations," Huu said.
According to him, the combination of AI and teacher guidance helps learning to be more effective, while avoiding dependence on technology.
Not only students, many students have also considered AI as a familiar tool in their learning. Ha Thuy Trang, a 3rd year student in Ho Chi Minh City, said she is using many AI applications at the same time.
With the same question, Trang often questions for many different tools to access multidimensional information, then synthesizes and develops it into her own idea.
"Each AI tool will give a different approach. I take those suggestions for reference and then build new ideas for my own work," Trang shared.
However, according to this female student, not all information provided by AI is accurate, so learners need to verify and compare themselves.
Sharing more about the use of AI in studying and research, Truong Quoc Khanh, a 4th year student, said that AI effectively supports the search for documents and answers initial questions.
"If we rely too much on AI, it will reduce the learners' ability to think and proactively learn," Khanh said.
According to this male student, to promote AI's effectiveness, learners need to understand how the tool works and know how to ask appropriate questions, and always select information before using it.
Mr. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade - said that in the context of strong development of artificial intelligence (AI), learners need to improve their self-study ability and critical thinking.
According to him, tools like ChatGPT, Gemini can provide a large amount of information, but students need to know how to select, exploit and do in-depth research to turn their knowledge into their own. AI only plays a supporting role, while human analytical, evaluative and creative abilities are decisive.
