On the afternoon of September 30, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education in coordination with the Central Propaganda Department and the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) organized a national online workshop on "Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on training and striving to become good citizens and good cadres, contributing to improving the quality of human resources in the new era".
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan, President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, emphasized: “The workshop is an opportunity for us to have a more comprehensive view of applying Uncle Ho's thoughts on the role of people in training, striving for each field and each person in the process of building and developing the country according to President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on "Good citizens, good cadres".
Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requested the Central Propaganda Department to continue to pay attention to and closely direct activities to encourage learning, encourage talents, and build a learning society. He requested the Ministry of Education and Training and other agencies, ministries, branches, and organizations to continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education to continue promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and lifestyle, actively responding to the nationwide movement to compete to build a learning society and promote lifelong learning launched by the Prime Minister.
The Deputy Prime Minister also requested that relevant agencies and scientists continue to study and thoroughly grasp President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on good citizens and good cadres to apply them to continuously improving the quality of cadres, teachers, members of the Association for Promoting Education and political education, ideology, and civic awareness for students, striving to become "learning citizens", contributing to the formation of high-quality human resources, "both red and specialized" for the country; strengthen the direction and urging of the application of information technology and digital transformation in organizing activities to train good cadres and good citizens according to President Ho Chi Minh's wishes.
Speaking at the workshop, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that in order to promote President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on training and striving to become good citizens and good cadres, in the new general education program being implemented, the Ministry of Education and Training especially emphasizes "good people", on the basis of truly good people - that is, honest people, living responsibly and happily, only then will there be good citizens and good human resources.
Besides implementing the 2018 General Education Program, which is a large-scale task, the Minister also shared the "small things" that the Education sector is doing to form "good people".
For decades, the education sector has taught students to study and practice the 5 Teachings of Uncle Ho and recently this has been reiterated. In the guidelines for political activities and flag-raising activities at the beginning of the school year, the Ministry of Education and Training has asked localities and schools to organize the implementation of the 5 Teachings of Uncle Ho - this is a simple inheritance of President Ho Chi Minh's ideology.
That is asking students to salute the flag and sing the national anthem. For children, when singing the national anthem is when the national spirit and patriotism come alive.
"Thus, students are required to do things from small to big, from specific actions to reach the common goal" - the Minister emphasized.
