Newly abandoned school, students go to school
While the new school was invested in construction spacious and modern but abandoned for many years, every day, more than 1,000 teachers and students at Vu Duy Thanh High School (in Khanh Nhac Commune, Yen Khanh District) have to go to school at a monk's house (a Catholic church) with cramped, old and degraded classrooms.
According to the representative of the Board of Directors of Vu Duy Thanh High School, the school was established under Decision 1171/QD-UBND dated October 5, 2009 of the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province, on the basis of converting from Ban Cong Yen Khanh High School. The school has nearly 100 teachers and more than 1,000 students.
Currently, most of the school's classrooms are level 4 houses and have degraded, so we have to ask for funding to repair them every year. However, because there was a decision to build a new school in another location, only minor repairs were allowed. Therefore, it has greatly affected the teaching and learning of the school. The school's headquarters is an old house converted from a monastery of a Catholic church that was built more than 100 years ago and has seriously degraded.
Vu Duy Thanh High School was invested with more than 30 billion VND from the State budget, built on an area of 2.47 hectares in Khanh Cuong commune, Yen Khanh district (Ninh Binh), starting in 2010. However, after 4 years of construction, in 2014, the project was suspended due to lack of capital and abandonment for many years, causing serious waste.
Put into use at the right time to open the new school year 2025 - 2026
According to the representative of the Ninh Binh Province Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, when implementing phase I of the Vu Duy Thanh High School Construction Project (invested by the school), from 2011 to 2013, the investor and contractor have carried out the construction, completing the rough construction of 2 rows of 3-storey buildings (classroom and school building) with many classrooms and functional rooms, gates and surrounding fence systems. After that, this project had to stop construction due to lack of capital.
In April 2023, when the People's Council of Ninh Binh province had a resolution on the investment policy of phase 2 and the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province issued a decision to approve the construction project of Vu Duy Thanh High School, phase 2 and the project was transferred to the Management Board of the Construction Investment Project Management Board of Ninh Binh Province and Industrial works as the investor. Accordingly, the project continues to be built in the existing campus of the construction project of Vu Duy Thanh High School (phase 1).
The project has a total investment of nearly 80 billion VND, with implementation period from 2023 to 2025. The investor has implemented construction, renovation and completion of unfinished items of phase 1 such as: Headquarters, 3-storey school building with 15 classrooms, security house, fence gate. At the same time, new items of phase 2 will be built: 3-storey classroom building with 30 rooms and 3-storey subject house with 6 rooms, multi-purpose house and other auxiliary items...
"Currently, the construction volume has reached about 80%, we are directing the contractor to focus on machinery and human resources to speed up the project's progress. It is expected that the project will be completed and put into use on the opening of the new school year 2025 - 2026" - said a representative of the Ninh Binh Province Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board.
