On the afternoon of December 25, many students studying pedagogical subjects undergoing training according to social needs at Saigon University said they had received living allowances according to Decree 116.
M.N, a third-year student at Saigon University, said she had received enough living allowances for 20 months, with a total amount of more than 72 million VND.
"I have been waiting for this support for quite a while. When I receive the money, I feel more secure in covering living expenses and studying, especially at the end of the year," M.N shared.
According to M.N, students being paid for living expenses helps reduce financial pressure, to focus more on upcoming study and internship.
Similarly, student C.H also said that he had received more than 72 million VND, equivalent to 20 months of tuition fees according to regulations.

On the same day, speaking with Lao Dong newspaper, a representative of Saigon University confirmed that in this payment period, the school has transferred living expenses to students for the 2023 and 2024 courses, with a total of more than 1,000 students.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper received feedback from many pedagogical students of Saigon University about being owed living expenses according to Decree 116 for a long time, causing many difficulties in studying and living.
According to Decree 116, from 2021, pedagogical students trained according to social needs or assigned tasks, ordered or bid will be supported with 100% of tuition fees and 3.63 million VND/month for living expenses (no more than 10 months/school year).
In case pedagogical students have enjoyed the policy, they will have to be compensated if they do not work in the education sector after 2 years of graduation; do not work for at least twice the training period from the date of recruitment; students transfer to another training sector, drop out of school, do not complete the training program or are disciplined and forced to drop out of school.
