On October 23, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Pham Van Nam - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province - said that the Prime Minister has decided to supplement the development investment expenditure estimate and the central budget public investment plan for 2025, allocating the province more than 397 billion VND to invest in the construction of 7 inter-level boarding schools in border areas.
"The estimated cost to build 7 inter-level boarding schools is 1,516 billion VND from the central budget. The capital of more than 397 billion VND that has just been allocated is the first advance payment," said Mr. Nam.
After the merger, the western mainland border area of Gia Lai province has 7 communes (including Ia Tach, Ia Mo, Ia O, Ia Chia, Ia Pon, Ia Nan and Ia Dom) with 21 primary and secondary schools. However, most schools do not have boarding and semi-boarding facilities; there is still a shortage of facilities, and teacher housing rooms are degraded. Of the total 9,482 students, 54.65% are children of ethnic minorities.
Gia Lai province identifies the investment in building boarding schools in 7 border communes as an important and urgent political task to facilitate learning and living conditions, contributing to improving people's knowledge and developing human resources in the locality.
According to the plan, 7 inter-level boarding schools are expected to simultaneously start construction on December 19, 2025; inaugurated at the end of August 2026 and put into use from the 2026-2027 school year.
The works are designed according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training, including 212 classes, meeting the learning needs of 7,420 students, ensuring full items for teaching, learning, accommodation and comprehensive training for students.
