On October 23, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) on digital transformation for the period 2025-2030, with a vision to 2035.
In the period of 2020-2025, VNPT Gia Lai has invested in completing telecommunications - information technology infrastructure, creating a solid foundation for the development of digital government, digital economy and digital society. The whole province currently has 1,214 3G/4G/5G mobile transmission stations, covering 99% of the area, meeting 100% of the connection needs of people in communes and wards.

The fiber optic cable network has covered 134/135 communes and wards with more than 19,700km of cables, ensuring stable bandwidth for connection and data transmission. The specialized data transmission network system level I and II is operated for more than 100 agencies, ensuring connectivity and direction from the province to the grassroots.
VNPT iGate system operates stably 24/7, connecting with the National Public Service Portal, National Population Database and Electronic Payments, has been upgraded to version 3.0.
Along with that, VNPT has deployed many specialized systems such as: education (vnEdu IOC), healthcare (VNPT-HIS, electronic medical records), digital agriculture (VNPT GREEN); coordinating with the Tax sector to deploy electronic invoices for more than 9,300 businesses, business households...

At the signing ceremony, Mr. To Dung Thai - Chairman of the Board of Members of VNPT Group - said that signing a cooperation agreement with the People's Committee of Gia Lai province opens up many opportunities to deploy tasks of developing information technology and digital transformation comprehensively.
"VNPT will focus resources, urgently deploy tasks to promote the application of information technology, promote digital transformation, develop digital government, digital economy, digital society and smart cities in Gia Lai province," Mr. Thai pledged.

Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan highly appreciated VNPT's capacity in promoting the development of 3 pillars of digital transformation including digital government, digital economy and digital society. He affirmed that the province will create the best conditions for VNPT to survey, analyze the current situation, and provide consultation to support sectors and localities in areas of cooperation.
The Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee suggested that VNPT prioritize the development of high-quality broadband infrastructure throughout the province, building a synchronous, modern, interconnected telecommunications and information technology system to ensure safety; expand 5G coverage in key areas and remote areas to ensure smooth communication, serve economic, security and defense development; maintain backup broadcasting stations to ensure communication in case of natural disasters and floods.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan hopes that VNPT - with the advantage of being a leading unit in the area - will become an "extended arm" of the Department of Science and Technology, contributing to Gia Lai's rapid and strong development in the digital transformation process; effectively applying new technologies, meeting the development requirements of the new period.
