News from the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province on June 30th said that the Minister of Education and Training signed Decision No. 1842/QD-BGDDT on merging 4 colleges in Ca Mau province to establish Ca Mau College.
According to the decision, the original status of Bac Lieu Vocational College, Bac Lieu Economic - Technical College and Ca Mau Community College will be merged into Vietnam - Korea Ca Mau Vocational College; and the name of Vietnam - Korea Ca Mau Vocational College will be changed to Ca Mau College.
The Ministry of Education and Training assigned the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to direct relevant agencies and units to carry out the handover and reception of the organizational structure, personnel, finance, assets and learners in their original state. The consolidation process must ensure that training activities take place normally, maintaining the legitimate rights and interests of officials, employees, workers and learners; and at the same time, not allowing loss or waste of assets and finances.
Previously, on March 26, 2026, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province submitted to the Ministry of Education and Training the Project on merging public colleges in the area.
According to the project, colleges before merging still have many limitations such as small training scale, scattered and duplicated training majors; low financial autonomy capacity; the efficiency of enrollment, business linkage and development of key training majors has not met requirements.
Maintaining many training institutions with the same functions also disperses investment resources, and large-scale, competitive training institutions have not yet been formed. Therefore, the merger is expected to improve the efficiency of resource use, increase training quality and better meet the local human resource needs.
After establishment, Ca Mau College operates according to a multi-disciplinary, multi-field model, training at three levels including college, intermediate and elementary. The school will also promote training according to business orders, strengthen international cooperation and strive to enroll more than 21,000 students in the period 2026-2030.
