HUE - Students in areas heavily affected by heavy rains have to stay home from school for another day to ensure their safety.

On November 26, the Thua Thien Hue Hydrometeorological Station said that due to the influence of a cold air mass of medium to strong intensity combined with strong high-altitude easterly wind disturbances, Thua Thien Hue province continued to experience heavy rain.

Total rainfall from the afternoon of November 25 to the end of November 28 is generally from 150 - 350mm, some places over 500mm. Mountainous areas of A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phu Loc, Phong Dien districts and Huong Tra town 200 - 450mm, some places over 600mm; Bach Ma mountain area and Bach Ma peak (Phu Loc) 500 - 1000mm, some places over 1,000mm.

In response to the flood situation, the entire Thua Thien Hue province has evacuated 174 households/507 people living in areas at risk of landslides to safe places. Of which, Phu Loc district has 80 households/257 people; Phong Dien district has 8 households/34 people; Huong Tra town has 47 households/113 people; Quang Dien district has 8 households/10 people; Hue city has 31 households/93 people.

Currently, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command and agencies and units have developed plans for natural disaster prevention and search and rescue; strictly maintained the regime of command duty, on-duty, combat readiness duty and rescue duty; at the same time directed agencies and units to maintain duty according to plan, regularly monitor and grasp the natural disaster situation.

To be proactive in bad weather, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province announced that for flooded areas that are not accessible, students will be notified to continue to stay home from school until safety conditions are met, then students will be allowed to return to school.

At the same time, implement make-up teaching plans to ensure the completion of the overall progress of the school year plan.

In less affected and dry areas (Nam Dong district, A Luoi district and some areas of Huong Thuy town, Huong Tra town, Phong Dien district), students will return to school as usual from November 26.
