Accelerate review, proactively adapt
According to the plan, the 10th grade entrance exam in Hung Yen will take place in 3 days, from May 24 to 26, about two weeks earlier than in previous years. Candidates taking the entrance exam to public high schools will take three exams including Math, Literature and English; candidates registering for specialized schools will take one more specialized subject according to their wishes. The early adjustment of the exam schedule forces secondary schools to accelerate the progress of teaching and reviewing, and at the same time helps students soon enter the "final sprint" phase.
At many educational institutions, the exam preparation atmosphere is becoming more urgent than ever. If in the past learning was still spread out, now most students have switched to studying according to topics, focusing on key exercises.
Nguyen Ngoc Bich, a 9A1 student at Nguyen Duc Canh Secondary School (Thai Thuy commune, Hung Yen province) said that she has developed a detailed study plan for each subject. For Math, she practices the questions regularly, and the teacher corrects each type carefully and points out errors to draw experience. As for Literature, she focuses on practicing the skills of developing outlines, reading comprehension and completing writing. This learning method helps her feel more confident when approaching exam questions.
A noteworthy new point in this year's exam is the change in the form of the Math exam, from essay to multiple-choice. This requires students to adjust their test methods, increasing their ability to react quickly and accurately.
Before this change, many schools have proactively introduced students early through periodic tests, using multiple-choice answer sheets in accordance with regulations. Thanks to that, students gradually adapt, limiting the psychological bewilderment when entering the official exam.

Maintain quality, improve admission opportunities
In the 2025-2026 school year, Nguyen Duc Canh Secondary School has 212 9th grade students participating in the 10th grade entrance exam. In recent years, the school has maintained the rate of students admitted to public high schools from 99 to 100%. On that basis, this year's review work is implemented early and systematically, in order to continue to maintain the achieved results.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - Principal of the school, the review plan was built right from the beginning of the school year, with reasonable allocation of time for each subject. In addition to regular classes, teachers also strengthen homework assignments, organize online learning groups, and maximize time to consolidate knowledge for students. Closely monitoring each student's ability also helps teachers have appropriate support plans, especially for students who are still limited in some skills.
Across the province, this year's exam is large-scale with 30,150 targets, corresponding to 676 classes. Among them, two specialized schools, Thai Binh High School for the Gifted and Hung Yen High School for the Gifted, respectively enrolled 525 and 420 targets. The large number of candidates while the quota is limited makes the level of competition increasingly high, requiring students not only to master knowledge but also to have a solid mentality.
Currently, secondary schools are focusing maximum resources on the "reaching the finish line" stage. From completing facilities, organizing scientific review, to regular short tests to consolidate knowledge and practice test-taking skills. At the same time, counseling for parents is also being promoted, helping to choose aspirations suitable to students' abilities, thereby increasing the chances of admission.
With the proactive preparation of the education sector, the close companionship of teachers and the determination of students, this year's 10th grade entrance exam in Hung Yen is expected to take place seriously and effectively. This is not only an important turning point in each student's learning journey, but also opens up new opportunities on the road ahead.
