On June 12, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee informed that the province has approved the enrollment plan for boarding primary and secondary schools (PTNT TH&THCS) in Muong Khuong, Pha Long, Y Ty and A Mu Sung communes in the 2026 - 2027 school year.
According to the plan, schools will enroll students in the form of admission, applied to students within the prescribed age, who are permanently residing in the border commune where the school is headquartered or adjacent border communes.
The subjects of enrollment also include children of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and armed forces working in border areas.

The organization of enrollment is required to ensure publicity, transparency, objectivity, compliance with regulations, and be suitable to the conditions of facilities, teaching staff and the actual situation of each locality.
For students registering for boarding school, schools will prioritize admission by target group.
In which, the priority is first of all students who do not have a source of nutrition, students with disabilities, ethnic minority students who are very small; then children of policy families, students from poor and near-poor households and students in particularly difficult areas, with long travel distances, unable to go to school and return home on the same day.
Schools also organize afternoon semi-boarding student admissions for cases in the enrollment area, who have needs and ensure safe travel conditions.
In case the number of registrations exceeds the target, admission will be carried out according to the criteria guided by the Department of Education and Training.
According to the plan, the enrollment work at PTNT, TH&THCS schools must be completed and the results announced no later than July 20, 2026.

The list of admitted students will be publicly posted at the school and announced to students and parents.
The Lao Cai Department of Education and Training is assigned to preside over and coordinate with localities to guide, inspect, and supervise the enrollment process.
The People's Committees of Muong Khuong, Pha Long, Y Ty, and A Mu Sung communes are responsible for propaganda, reviewing subjects, establishing admissions councils, and ensuring that student selection is in accordance with regulations.
Border boarding schools are expected to create conditions for highland students to study in a more favorable environment, contributing to improving the quality of education, developing human resources and associated with the task of maintaining national defense and security in border areas.
