Lao Cai establishes 2 Centers to Support Inclusive Education Development

Lao Cai - The province established 2 Centers to support the development of inclusive education, gradually completing the system of supporting children with disabilities in the area.

On August 6, information from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province said that the locality has just issued a decision to establish 2 Centers for Supporting Inclusive Education Development directly under the Department of Education and Training.

The establishment of 2 Centers to Support Inclusive Education Development aims to meet the needs of support, intervention and education for children with disabilities, contributing to improving the quality of inclusive education and ensuring the right to education of children with disabilities in the province.

According to the decision, the 2 Centers for Supporting Inclusive Education Development are public non-business units directly under the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Education and Training, operating by region.

In which, the Yen Bai Integration Education Development Support Center is located at the (old) Medical College, residential group No. 9 Yen Ninh.

Lao Cai Center for Supporting Inclusive Education Development is located at the General Technical Center - Vocational Guidance and Continuing Education of Lao Cai, Muong Than street, residential group 13, Lao Cai ward.

Lao Cai province sets a target that by 2030, 100% of children and students with disabilities in preschool and general education age who are able to study will have access to inclusive education. At the same time, 100% of children in need of counseling and intervention.

The locality also strives for 100% of schools with disabled children to receive professional support in inclusive education, and teachers to be trained in related knowledge and skills. It is expected that by 2030, about 400 children and students will be educated and supported at two centers.

Previously, on July 29, 2026, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee approved the Project to establish 2 Centers to Support Inclusive Education Development.

According to the project, the centers have the function of early detection of children with disabilities; assessing educational needs; organizing early intervention, specialized education and supporting inclusive education; and at the same time fostering expertise for teachers and parents and deploying communication activities to raise community awareness.

According to the roadmap, in the 2026-2027 school year, each center is expected to recruit 36 children and students in preschool, primary and secondary school levels.

By the 2029-2030 school year, the enrollment scale of each center will increase to 192 students, meeting the increasing demand for support and education for children with disabilities in the province.
