April 30 - May 1 holiday schedule may last 4 days
According to the framework of the 2025-2026 school year time plan of provinces and cities, schools, and holiday and Tet schedules for students are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code and annual guiding documents.

Accordingly, in the school year, students are off on major holidays including: New Year's Day (1 day), Lunar New Year (5 days), Southern Liberation Day April 30 (1 day), International Labor Day May 1 (1 day), National Day September 2 (2 days) and Hung Kings Commemoration Day (1 day, on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month).
In 2026, the Hung Kings Commemoration Day falls on Sunday (April 26). According to regulations, employees are entitled to compensatory leave on the next working day, which is Monday (April 27).
Therefore, in schools that do not organize classes on Saturday, students may have 3 consecutive days off, from April 25th to the end of April 27th.
This year, the gap between the two holidays is quite close. Students just finished the Hung Kings Commemoration holiday, returned to school for 2 days, and then continued to have a holiday on April 30 - May 1.
Because 2 holidays are adjacent to 2 weekend days, for schools that do not organize classes on Saturday, this holiday may last 4 days, from April 30 to the end of May 3.
The Ministry of Education and Training allows Departments of Education and Training to proactively develop school year time plans, including school schedules and holiday and Tet schedules suitable to the conditions of each locality, but must ensure enough 35 weeks of actual study according to regulations.
According to the time frame for the 2025-2026 school year, the first semester must end before January 18 and the second semester must be completed before May 31. On that basis, localities will arrange school and holiday schedules for students accordingly.
Hanoi finalizes holiday schedule April 30 - May 1.
Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just announced the holiday schedule for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Southern Liberation Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1, 2026.
Accordingly, on the occasion of the Hung Kings Commemoration Day 2026, officials, civil servants, employees and students throughout the industry will be off on April 26 (Sunday). Due to coinciding with the weekend holiday, employees will have compensatory leave on Monday, April 27.
For the Victory Day holiday on April 30th and International Labor Day May 1st, units and schools are off for 2 days, including April 30th and May 1st, 2026.
In addition to announcing the holiday schedule, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requests units to strictly implement a number of contents during the holiday. Specifically, agencies and schools should hang national flags according to regulations; strengthen disease prevention and control according to the city's direction.
During the holiday, units must arrange on-duty officials to protect agencies and schools; proactively plan to ensure the safety of facilities, equipment, fire and explosion prevention; coordinate with local police forces to maintain security and order.
Along with that, schools need to strengthen propaganda and education for students to practice a civilized and elegant lifestyle, comply with regulations on traffic safety and order; not participate in or encourage illegal racing; strictly implement rules of conduct in public places.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also requests units to maintain information and reporting regimes, promptly reflect situations arising during the holidays for handling. Immediately after the holidays, units and schools need to quickly stabilize the teaching and learning order, ensuring operations in accordance with the school year plan.
