As of January 30, at least 18 localities across the country have announced the Lunar New Year Binh Ngo 2026 holiday schedule for students.
In Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho, the official Lunar New Year holiday for students is 11 days, from February 12th to the end of February 22nd, 2026. However, because February 12th falls on Thursday, many schools in Ho Chi Minh City have proactively arranged for students to take early leave from February 9th. Combined with the previous two weekend days, the actual Tet holiday time for students can last up to 16 days - the highest level in the country to date.

In Quang Ninh, the Lunar New Year holiday for students is from February 16 to February 28, 2026 (13 days). However, because March 1 falls on Sunday, students throughout the province will not return to school until March 2, 2026, raising the total holiday time to 14 days, becoming one of the localities for students to go to school latest in the country.
Localities such as An Giang, Lam Dong, Ca Mau, Vinh Long agreed to let students take 14 days off, from February 9 to February 22, 2026, to create conditions for students and parents to travel far to return to their hometowns for Tet.
In northern mountainous provinces such as Lao Cai, the Tet holiday also usually lasts about 14 days, suitable for weather conditions and customs of ethnic minorities.
In Phu Tho, students throughout the province have Tet holidays for 12 days, from Wednesday, February 11, 2026 (December 24th of the year At Ty) to the end of Sunday, February 22nd, 2026 (January 6th of the year Binh Ngo).
Phu Tho Department of Education and Training requests educational institutions to seriously organize the directions of the Central Government and localities on organizing Tet, ensuring safety, health, and thrift; and at the same time strengthen propaganda for students to comply with the law, ensure traffic safety, fire and explosion prevention, injury prevention and safety in cyberspace during the holidays.
Similarly, Dong Nai also allows students and officials and teachers throughout the education sector to have Tet holidays for 12 consecutive days, from February 11th to the end of February 22nd, 2026.
This holiday schedule is considered suitable, creating favorable conditions for travel and psychological stability before entering the new semester.
In Gia Lai, according to information from the Department of Education and Training, students, trainees, officials and employees throughout the sector will have 11 days of Tet holiday, from February 12 to the end of February 22, 2026.
Meanwhile, Ha Tinh implements Decision No. 2102/QD-UBND on the framework plan for the 2025–2026 school year. Students at all levels have 11 days off for Tet, from February 13 to the end of February 23, 2026 (December 26 to January 7).
In contrast to many localities, Hanoi is currently the place with the shortest Lunar New Year holiday. According to the plan, Hanoi students have 5 official Tet holidays, from February 16 to February 20, 2026 (December 29 to January 4). Including the two weekends before and after Tet, the total holiday time for Hanoi students is only about 9 days.
The entire Hai Phong education sector will also have 9 consecutive days of Lunar New Year holiday, starting from Saturday, February 14, 2026 (ie, December 27 of the year At Ty) to the end of Sunday, February 22, 2026 (ie, January 6 of the year Binh Ngo).
