Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced on the morning of January 23rd that the system for registering for the first phase of the 2026 Thinking Assessment (TSA) exam was opened from December 5th to 15th, 2025.
After the registration period, the system recorded that 16,940 candidates successfully registered for the exam, an increase of 22% compared to phase 1 in 2025 and no technical incidents occurred. The number of candidates who are students in grades 10 and 11 is about 2,000, accounting for 12%.

With the number of candidates who have registered for the exam successfully, Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that it will organize 3 exam teams on Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning in 2 days, January 24-25, 2026 at 28 exam sites in Hanoi and 10 other provinces and cities including Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang. Among them, the exam cluster with the largest number of candidates is Hanoi University of Science and Technology with a total of 2,937 candidates. The exam site with the least number of candidates is in the Northwest region (the exam site in Lao Cai province) with 88 candidates.
More than 1,500 contestants participating in the competition in Hanoi will experience the automatic check-in system with a duration of about 10 seconds for each contestant.

Currently, preparations for the exam phase have been completed by Hanoi University of Science and Technology and coordinated units. All candidates have received exam notifications on their MyTSA accounts registered on the system.
Candidates need to carefully check the time they need to be present at the exam location, the exam address. Candidates are only allowed to bring personal papers, pens, pencils, rulers, compasses to the exam room; laptops do not have the function of drafting documents, do not have memory cards, do not have the function of receiving and transmitting broadcasts.

Armed weapons, explosives, flammable substances, alcoholic beverages, documents, equipment with the function of receiving and transmitting signals, images, equipment with the function of recording, taking photos or containing information that may be used for cheating during the exam and grading process, including wristwatches or other devices that violate regulations, are not allowed to be brought into the exam room. Candidates need to bring their ID card to make check-in convenient and fast.
About 10 days after the exam, candidates will know the exam results on their MyTSA account.
