On January 24, Thu Dau Mot University (Binh Duong) officially announced the refund of over-collected tuition fees to students.
Thu Dau Mot University informed that the refund is the "surplus" tuition fee. The surplus collection period is semester 2 of the 2020-2021 school year, semester 3 of the 2020-2021 school year and semester 1 of the 2021-2022 school year for full-time undergraduate students, continuing education students and graduate students.
Students who had their bank account information returned by the school on January 23. There are still students whose account numbers have not been verified.
Therefore, Thu Dau Mot University recommends that students who have paid tuition during the above period update their personal information and bank accounts on the school's system.
The deadline for updating is March 31. The school also recommends that students who have received the money check again and update the information as above for the school to verify.
After receiving and reviewing student information, Thu Dau Mot University will pay before April 10, 2025.
Students who continue to have questions will be informed and paid the last time by April 20, 2025.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that the State Audit pointed out that Thu Dau Mot University collected tuition fees not in accordance with regulations for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.
The school collected about 1.5 times more than the prescribed level and the total amount discovered to have been incorrectly collected was about 37 billion VND.
The State Audit then issued an official dispatch requesting Thu Dau Mot University to refund students the tuition fees collected in excess of the prescribed level (in case the refund cannot be made, it must be paid to the budget).
On January 23, Thu Dau Mot University refunded more than 21 billion VND to 10,005 students. Currently, about 16 billion VND remains, which is being reviewed for refund to students.
