School announces tuition collection close to Tet, students complain of difficulties

Many students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade expressed their anger because the school announced tuition collection close to Lunar New Year 2025.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade announces the collection of tuition fees for the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. Collection period is from December 30, 2024 to January 15, 2025.

After the above time, if students have not completed paying tuition, their registered courses will be canceled and their names will not be on the class list.

This announcement has made many students angry, because they think that paying tuition fees this time is close to Lunar New Year, causing difficulties for students.

Student M.H said that every year the school usually collects tuition fees after Tet, but this year the announcement was made too early.

"My parents are farmers, so there are a lot of things to worry about before Tet, so I'm afraid my family won't be able to prepare nearly 20 million VND in 2 weeks to pay. I haven't told my parents yet," M.H said.

Similarly, H.N, another student, also said that she will have difficulty paying tuition fees this time close to Tet.

From there, this student expressed his wish that the school create conditions for students to extend the time to pay tuition so as not to affect their studies.

Regarding this issue, a representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade said that tuition collection is being carried out as planned.

"In previous years, the second semester usually started after Tet, but this year, Tet comes earlier. At this time, students have completed registering for semester 2, so paying tuition is a matter of course," the school representative informed.

According to this person, the school has also received students' opinions, so if students have difficulties, the school will support them so that their studies are not affected.

"If students cannot pay tuition on time, they can apply for an extension of the tuition payment period and the school will handle it," he added.
