Consider choosing a major
Before the threshold of university, many 12th grade students and their families are spending time carefully researching enrollment information and career trends to choose suitable majors.
Nguyen Huu Dung - a 12th grade student in Hanoi - said that in addition to traditional majors, he is particularly interested in new majors related to technology and data.
I see many schools opening majors related to artificial intelligence application in specific fields such as banking, agriculture, media... These majors are predicted to have many job opportunities in the future" - the male student shared.
Not only students, parents also actively accompany their children in the process of learning about enrollment information.
Ms. Tran Thi Le - a parent of a 12th grade student in Thanh Xuan ward - said that her family prioritizes choosing a major associated with the needs of the labor market.
“New majors, if well-trained and linked to practical needs, will open up many opportunities for children after graduation,” Ms. Le said.
According to parents, the fact that universities update training programs and open new majors is a positive sign, helping students have more choices suitable for their abilities and future career orientation.
Opening a new training major
In the 2026 enrollment season, many universities have opened new majors/specialties to meet human resource needs in the context of digital transformation and rapid changes in the labor market.
At Thuy Loi University, Dr. Tran Khac Thac - Head of the Training Department - said that in addition to traditional training majors, the school plans to open 3 new majors and training programs including: Commercial Business, Smart New Energy Vehicle Engineering program and Beauty Care Technology program. These are fields that are forecast to have high human resource demand in the coming years.
According to analysis from Dr. Tran Khac Thac, for the field of commercial business, this is still an important industry in the economy. In the context of increasingly developed production, if there is a lack of effective business, marketing and distribution strategies, businesses will face many difficulties in bringing products to consumers. Therefore, this is considered an important "bridge" between production and the market.
In addition, industries related to smart car technology and new energy vehicles are also assessed as having great development potential. In the near future, the trend of gradually reducing the use of fossil fuels and switching to clean energy sources will become popular. Vehicles integrating modern technology and using new energy are predicted to dominate the market.
The demand for beauty is increasing, not only among women but also among men. The beauty care technology industry is forecast to develop strongly and will need more human resources in the near future.
At the University of Commerce, M.A. Nguyen Quang Trung - Deputy Head of the Communication and Enrollment Department - said that in 2026, the school will open a new major, "Application of Artificial Intelligence in Business", to meet the increasingly strong trend of AI application in the operation of this field.
“The application of AI in economic and business fields today is an inevitable trend. The new program is expected to meet the increasing human resource needs of businesses, especially the team of human resources capable of applying AI in business activities” - MSc. Trung said.
This year, Hanoi University of Finance - Banking is expected to enroll 3,500 students for formal training programs, international links and part-time programs.
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang - Vice Rector of the school, the new point in the training program is opening a number of specialties such as Marketing Management, Tourism Management, Restaurant - Hotel, along with international liên kết programs, Chinese Language training, International Business and Business Administration. These are considered fields that need high-quality human resources in the coming time.
